missing photo gallery

  • Good morning

Big surprise and huge disappointment: I open the photo “gallery” on my smartphone and I realize that they have all disappeared! However, I did not delete them!

I only have one image left, taken today!

Does anyone know if there is a way to get them back?

    Thank you and best regards.

    • Just read user reviews to see that there are no miracles, especially for recovering information deleted before installation. If the deleted file is still in the trash (deleting after 30 days), “My Files” will show them by selecting the “Trash” entry. If the file was simply lost by an app, the method is to scan the entire folder/file structure of the phone to find items that still exist as files. This is what Gallery does for photos/videos or My Files by classifying all the files.

Real tools capable of exploring the structure of the flash in the lower layers are very rare and expensive. This method implies that we have not written too much on the media because it destroys the chains which allow a file to be reconstructed. These are the tools that do the work in detective series to find bits of image even though the person has emptied their trash.

    @Freimmientis36 Try restarting the phone.

The Gallery app automatically explores all image/video files on the phone to display them. The fact that you can’t see the images doesn’t necessarily mean that they no longer exist on the phone, but maybe just that the app crashed while searching for them.

Otherwise it is also possible that you have a copy in OneDrive or in Google Photo. They are so insistent on making a copy of all the images that pass that you may have given in once and you will have a copy of the images either at Microsoft or at Google.

    Thank you for your response.

Alas, they are not in the trash! They seemed to “volatilize”! No more traces!

I don’t know what happened. Perhaps I have without really wanting to

    deleted a file or something!

What a pity! I will check with Samsung if there is a possibility of recovering them.

    Good evening.

    Good evening DanielD

    Thank you for your response.

It seems that my photos have been deleted and are unfortunately permanently lost!

Have I been hacked or have I done something wrong, such as closing a file? I don’t really know, but it seems to me all the same

strange that no “alert” was reported to me.

I will check with Samsung if there is a possibility of recovering the file, the images…

What a shame that I didn’t store everything in a Swisscom cloud, as is the case for my photos on the computer!

    Good evening and best regards.

@Freimmientis36 If you want to look for the traces, I can suggest a path.

Tap the icon with the nine dots at the bottom right, and then look for the “My Files” app.

Open “My Files” and then follow “Internal Storage”, then “DCIM”, then “Camera”.

This is where you should find the files of the photos you took with the phone. If it’s empty that’s not a good sign!

    Hello DanielD

I am asked if in the help given to my questions there was a solution.

    Alas, not really.

Hence my question: which icon “with the 9 dots at the bottom right” is this, because I can’t find it?

Thank you and have a good day.

      Hello

One last question before closing this topic.

I find plenty of offers to recover deleted files, but they still seem to be present on the smartphone.

For example *Wondershare Recoverit" or “Recuva” or even *Dr Fone".

Are these applications really effective and safe.

Thank you and have a good day.

      Hello DanielD,

Thank you once again for the time you spend responding to me.

This time - finally - I understood correctly.

I’m going to “mourn” these photo losses (it’s not so serious!) and forget all that!

This will have at least taught me how careful it is necessary to be and above all

      make regular backups.

As I am subscribed to the “Swisscom Cloud” on my computer where I keep my photos, in particular, I will try to see if I can automatically and instantly transfer my photos from my smartphone to this cloud.

      Thanks again.

      Kind regards.

Just a clarification. Automatic synchronization of images on a cloud is not really a backup because these images are at the mercy of a sync bug leading to the deletion of the images.

For a true backup the files must be copied periodically to separate media.
