OK thanks.

I just find it so customer-unfriendly.

There’s a lot of advertising everywhere about the oh-so-great new TV box, then it turns out that nothing works really well.

1. Out of sync

2. Sound a catastrophe

3. Slower than the old box, and the sound is also delayed

4. Scrolling in the guide no longer works smoothly either. Marking no longer remains on programs at the current time. Sometimes it jumps back or forwards.

5. Google Assistant is just now working so slowly.

But you have to pay for the box yourself, and also for the faulty performance.

So I can’t confirm any of these 5 points for myself. Maybe I’m just lucky.

Hello.
Although you may not believe it, I had the same problems. Mostly sound dropouts with the new 5 series.
Instead of the included HDMI cable from Swisscom, I simply used the old HDMI that I had connected to the old TV-Box.
Result: Everything is fine!

A bit strange, but it works.

Hello @Peuldiefautz57

I have now also set up a Yamaha A4A in my lab.
What firmware exactly is on your device?
I have 1.96, which had to be installed using a USB stick, which wasn’t possible for me via the Internet.

Can you tell me what exactly isn’t right with Netflix and give me a few examples?
I would like to be able to recreate this for myself.

We know that it takes a while for the sound to appear when zapping and we are working on finding an improvement.
But I certainly can’t see 5 seconds with my A4A at the moment 😉
For me it’s max 1-2 seconds.
Which audio mode are you using exactly?
Surround compressed DDP is slightly faster than surround uncompressed MAT on the Yamaha A4A.

I can confirm with my installation that the sound/image is not 100% synchronous with every sound setting. the sound is always slightly late. tested on my sound system (devil), connected via both bluetooth and hdmi arc.

Show original language (German)

I also notice delays in the sound. Especially with replay and films outside of live TV.

It starts slowly and the delay gets longer and longer.

Solution for me: box off and on again. Sometimes just changing the channel and back again is enough.

Hello @Klothilde

what exactly kind of system do you have?

Can’t you connect the tv box directly to the devil system?

I myself would never want to use Bluetooth for video with audio 😉 but that’s probably because I want to have the best audio signal, especially for the apps that offer Dolby Atmos and that’s not possible via Bluetooth.

and even in stereo mode is it wrong for you and the sound is always too late compared to the picture?

Can you make a video of it and send it to me?

You can also do this via PM.

I connected a Panasonic TX-50DXW734 to the box via HDMI. The sound system is a Teufel KB 62 CR. Variant 1: sound connected to the devil via Bluetooth / variant 2: optical out on the TV back to the devil. In both versions the sound is always slightly behind. A little more noticeable in the replay/recordings. This applies to both the “stereo” setting and the two “sourround” settings….

I didn’t have all of that with the TV UHD box. It was connected directly to the sound system via the optical out connection.

Hello @Klothilde

Uh, yes with your setup there is unfortunately no way to connect the TV Box 5 directly to the AVR.
But according to the TV manual [https://tda.panasonic-europe-service.com/docs/2z6557a656z1z3d100z6465z706466z24z492890 8a085a2adf2c3addaecef5953db5a6ca15/tsn3/data/ALL/TX65DXC904/OI/943140/TQB0E2626A-E.pdf] (https://tda.panasonic-europe-service.com/docs/2z6557a656z1z3d100z6465z706466z24z492890 8a085a2adf2c3addaecef5953db5a6ca15/tsn3/data/ALL/TX65DXC904/OI/943140/TQB0E2626A-E.pdf)

There are some settings on the TV that could possibly bring an improvement, since your TV generates the SPDIF signal and can influence it.
See the point -> Since 103 / 104
You may find a setting that improves your TV experience.

After several tests it seems as if the delay only exists with certain channels. A station that has this problem and that I often watch is the Italian LA7. Since the delay is also present on the Blue TV web interface, perhaps the channel feed could be faulty? Maybe someone could look at this internally for testing purposes 🙂

Ciao @UrsSch - I also have FW 1.96 on the Yamaha. I set the sound to surround uncompressed MAT on the Swisscom Box, but have recently switched back to the TV Box-21. I would be happy to connect the TV Box 5 again and give you explicit feedback.

What I also observed is that when I start the whole setup with the TV Box-21 and the new box (i.e. when all devices were completely off), I get a picture but no sound at all. This really comes with a significant delay (at least 5 seconds) and sometimes only after I have changed the channel once.

I seem to have almost the same problem here:

TV-Box 5 with TV (Philips) via HDMI

TV with soundbar “Sonos Arc” via eARC

Since switching to the TV Box 5, I have regularly had sound interruptions when zapping, even to the point that the sound sometimes no longer comes through the Sonos. I didn’t have the old TV Box 21 before. The output directly via the TV has no problems, only when I go via Surround/eArc.

At least I’m reassured that it’s a known problem with the box and not with the connection between the TV/Sonos. By the way, the Sonos is not connected to WiFi but is connected directly to Ethernet. If the sound stops completely, it would come back as soon as I briefly interrupt the Sonos’ Ethernet…

I have set surround uncompressed (Dolby MAT). When I switch on the TV, the volume is so loud that I first have to reduce it in the SONOS app, then I can adjust it back to normal using the Swisscom FB. Still hoping for a speedy recovery.

Show original language (German)

Try connecting your box, your TV and the Sonos so that you can only control the volume of all 3 with the SC-FB. All 3 devices then always have the same volume.

This would have to be done via arc settings.

So I still have synchronization between picture and sound from time to time. A quick change to another channel and back fixes the problem.

What’s new for me are occasional short sound interruptions lasting about 1 second. As if there was a fault in the transmitter. But I’ve already noticed it on a few channels.

Show original language (German)

With the surround compressed setting (Dolby Digital Plus) everything is synchronous and changing channels works smoothly without any problems. With stereo or surround uncompressed (Dolby MAT) it still stalls when changing channels and the sound is sometimes out of sync…
