@Werner Yes, @Sunaba would advise you to contact the hotline 0800 800800 about this and perhaps report here how it went, at least the French-speaking moderation has the opportunity to watch the films to continue to watch on Blue Tv free, was accepted without hesitation as a solution and, as I know the ladies and gentlemen, they would certainly have intervened if that would have been wrong 😀, the terms and conditions are definitely there.

a year later

Hello everyone,

I canceled my Swisscom TV subscription at the end of September 2024 and then registered on Swisscom TV Air free - assuming that I would automatically have access to the films I purchased. None. So I called the hotline and explained everything in detail - the man on the phone then had to speak to someone
then I received the sobering news: purchased films are stored in the cloud and not in the TV-Box. The cloud will be deleted as soon as the subscription is canceled. So my films are gone. When I asked whether there would be a credit to buy the films again, the answer was no. That was not intended.

I’m really upset because I bought over 10 films for over Fr. 20 each. If anyone has a tip for me, I would be grateful.

@Rajoki63 Did you just open Blue TV air in a new MySwisscom account, or was there a takeover in those before the termination, in the first case, no wonder in the second case. wouldn’t that be ok.

Unfortunately I don’t fully understand your answer @Gaeilgeoir

I had the blue TV L subscription and bought various films through it. I canceled this subscription and logged in to Swisscom TV Air free with TV-Box yesterday - and now I no longer have access to the films I purchased.

@Rajoki63

That’s a big disadvantage if you buy films and don’t rent them. Unfortunately, if you cancel, everything is gone. This also applies to recordings. Unfortunately, the answer you received from support is correct. There is definitely no provision for a credit to be used to buy the films again. Unfortunately, the trick with the blue TV Air Free doesn’t work either because it’s basically a completely different account. Even if you had already registered with TV Air Free before the cancellation, it is not possible to transfer the accounts. There are also legal reasons for this. Exactly, unfortunately everything is gone when you cancel.

@Samsi That’s exactly why my question is, if the hotline hasn’t “unified” the accounts, the films are gone. How is the new “account” supposed to know what was purchased in the “old account”.

If you simply downgrade your TV subscription within the same Swisscom login (e.g. from TV L to TV M or TV S), the films will be retained.

Unfortunately, a downgrade to TV free is not planned - so films are gone đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

By the way, when you buy a film you don’t acquire the “right of ownership”, but only the “right of use” - as long as you have the right subscription (TV S or TV M or TV L or XL)

Thanks for your reply, @Samsi
I’m really disappointed that this was never specifically mentioned. For me it was more than logical that the films I purchased would still be available to me.
I have now written to the legal advice from SRF Espresso/Kassenjagd and will report here if I find out anything new.

Thanks for your reply, @POGO 1104

Maybe I need to go back for a moment. I just wanted to cancel my Swisscom Internet subscription and keep the TV subscription because I was actually happy with the Swisscom TV offer and used it a lot. This was not possible, I was told in a call.

This meant that it was not possible to switch to a smaller TV subscription without an internet subscription.

Yes, because an internet subscription from Swisscom is required to watch/subscribe to blue TV, except for TV-Air/Air Free. If the internet connection is terminated, this also means the termination of blue TV. It has never been possible to use blue TV without an Internet subscription from Swisscom, except for the TV-Air or blue TV app directly on the television.

It would then be interesting to find out about an actual successful subscription transfer of the purchased videos to a blue free subscription, because about 2 years ago this failed because the new free account was not based on the previous Swisscom login of the payment account. Subscriptions could be set up with the purchased videos and transferring the purchased videos between 2 different accounts was generally not possible.

This may have changed in the meantime and further experiments will certainly show this.

So my warning, which I already expressed in post #4, unfortunately still seems to be relevant.

The experiment has now been carried out again and, not unexpectedly, it failed completely again.

I would also be surprised if something had changed in the last 2-3 years in the transfer ban that has existed since the start of blue TV without any announcement 🙂
