@bitracer The Swisscombox 21 can also be connected to the router via WLAN, at least with a Swisscom router, while with the external router it must be tested in the conditions described above.

I don’t use the SB21, but I don’t see any mention of WiFi of any kind in the specs.

@bitracer I use TvBox21 partly with wifi. And others do it too. It’s not recommended and it’s even unstable at times, but it works.

What does “in part” mean? If it is connected to a Wlan-Box, this is equivalent to being connected via network cable.

Then it is a specific feature that only works with the Swisscom router.

In all Swisscom commissioning examples, the SB21 is connected via cable to the router or again via cable to the Wlan box.

For the use that @Rabbit74 wants to make of it, we can conclude that the only option is the network cable.

Should simply set up the TV box with Ethernet on the external router and if it works, then disconnect the cable from the TV box, then the following screen appears (in German for me), where you can select Wlan, let’s see if it works, I have never tried this with an external router:

With Mikrotik in WiFi it wouldn’t be the same. I’m speaking to you from experience as a Mikrotik user.

It is not a question of monopoly or security, it is simply a matter of company logic aimed at containing as much as possible various problems due to possible incompatibilities or inadequate devices at the customer’s site.

Let’s not always look for unnecessary controversy.
