Patch LWL from the socket to the Router

  • Good morning everyone, for an FTTH (10 Gb) installation from the incoming socket to the router, which optical fiber is used? LC/APC-LC Singelmode? OM 3?

Does SFP+ need to be compatible with the XGS PON standard?

what fiber is used from the armadio di distribuzione to the outlet? LC /??

Is there a document describing these elements (specific to Swisscom)? Thank you

The 10Gbit uses XGS-PON (P2MP). Only certified devices are allowed. Basically it’s InternetBox 4 and a couple of third party devices (Zyxel, Nokia, etc).

All information can be found here:

    [https://www.swisscom.ch/en/residential/help/device/internet-router/external-router.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/en/residential/help/device/internet- router/external-router.html)

    List of certified devices:

I recommend using the InternetBox 4, the cable is supplied.

    Excellent, thanks!!!
Who can you contact to request certification of other devices? I was specifically thinking of the Ubiquiti and Mikrotik ) which many enthusiasts use!

Why are routers certified and not individual SPF modules?

it must also be said that those who know these technologies… SFP+ are often compatible with multiple brands…

…. Precisely for what I ask: why does he decide based on his strategy and not based on customer requests….? Marketing strategies that cause a loss of customer loyalty: when they find a more “open” provider the risk is that of losing customers

Swisscom addresses a very broad audience. The IB/Wlan-Box system provided by Swisscom is easy to manage even for an average user.

As regards 10Gbe (P2MP) the situation is more delicate. Incorrect configuration could negatively affect the service provided to other users on the same splitter.

Ok thanks, the answer is Chiara. My input is not to think only of “average” users.

Isn’t there the possibility of having another product where there is the possibility of configuring what you want as you like? Such as a dedicated line?

Top thanks! Maybe yes: what is it?

Furthermore, without having a registration as SA or Sagl in the commercial register, can you have business products? I don’t think so.
