Is Internet WAN directly in the router without IB possible?

Good morning everyone, in a few days I will finally put the 10GB network into service at my home too. I wanted to know if it was possible to bypass the Swisscom IB and connect directly with fiber to the router (in my case a UDM SE)? So as not to have problems with opening the doors on 2 devices etc… also you know if the TV works (I’ve heard several problems here too). Thanks in advance

Hi, thank you very much for the quick response but perhaps I should have given more detail to the question as Ubiquiti devices do not exist in the list of compliant devices but there are third-party SFP interfaces compatible with Ubiquiti which are mounted on routers which are compatible in the list. Isn’t it sufficient to install an interface / module compatible with XGS-PON to ITU standard G.9807.1?

as far as TV is concerned, the same goes: on my Ubiquiti router (as on the entire network) I activated both options but without success: I can see it for you but only if they watch it not live. Maybe I left something out about the configuration but I’m sure those 2 parameters are active on the entire network.

@Rabbit74 Since I don’t use a third party router, I can’t say if it will work with the module, you should try it, but of course I understand not wanting to spend money on something that might not work.

Maybe you should ask in the German-speaking forum, where there are people with more experience with third-party routers.

    Giazie.
    I’ve already entered communities D and F but haven’t found anything 😀.

I also wanted to share this topic in Italian for all those who speak Italian and perhaps have difficulty with other languages: I don’t find it correct that we always have to look for all the information and share it in German or French ☺️

Unfortunately not. The best way is to buy the Nokia certified “modem” that works in bridging and then connect the UDM via network cable.

Below you will find a fairly detailed discussion on how to proceed:
