Swisscom webmail with ad blocker half page empty

  • Now I’m coming up with an “advertising in webmail” post, like we’ve probably already had a hundred

So the following somewhat difficult situation

A customer really wants to use webmail. Outlook, Thunderbird and Windows 10 Mail are not an option. (I tried several times to convince her to use an external email program, but it was hopeless). But it really bothers her that half the screen is covered with advertising

The customer doesn’t have Swisscom Internet and the 9 francs more per month is too much. I have already installed an ad blocker (uBlock origin), which removes the advertising but the space is still gone. Does anyone know a way to adapt the HTML so that the email fills the screen again? Some add-on or another ad blocker or some other trick? (“Use a desktop email client” or “Bluewin Mail is not the best mail provider anyway, especially for non-Swisscom customers with only 1 GB of memory” are unfortunately not solutions, the customer is stubborn)

      1. come to terms with the situation

      2. Desktop mail app

      3. Paid subscription

      4. Alternative mail provider

      5. “Täubele and Stämpfele”

      BASTA

Consequence of “stubborn” = coming to terms with the situation.

With so much stubbornness I would also become stubborn and not invest a second…

@POGO 1104 I can only agree with you, but I still like it when customers are satisfied in the end

As the saying goes, “customer is king.”

But I can’t do magic either, I’ve suggested every possible solution (desktop client or just pay)

@POGO 1104 She’ll probably have to do that

I hope she doesn’t find this post, she said she had already researched the Internet herself and found a lot of people who complained (so she may have been on the Swisscom Forum) 😂

    Hi @NilsL

Got “unfortunately”? I just didn’t see any advertising in webmail when I deactivated all blockers. Otherwise I would have seen if I could write you a quick rule.

But yes, if she already knows that there is no solution because it’s not a bug but a feature, she shouldn’t expect any dark magic from you. Otherwise, when she gets to @“x”#65s point 5, I would refer her directly to the Swisscom contact form.

I’m out of the loop either way, luckily the woman has another computer scientist who she can terrorize for her other problems.

He just didn’t know what to do about the Bluewin Mail problem and then just left it and my number was given to someone who I help from time to time with subscription stories and such

Now I just have to think about whether I should charge for my wasted time or whether I should just leave it alone, probably yes, I couldn’t solve the problem but it was in no way my fault
