Fritzbox without connection after switching on and off

  • I’m asking this question for a friend who is dependent on a Fritzbox due to a visual impairment and therefore cannot use an IB. My telephone support didn’t help at first and maybe one of you has a concrete idea for a solution. His Anschluss is a conventional DSL and not fiber optic. Swisscom customers in apartment buildings have no problems.

Error pattern: The Fritzbox was unintentionally disconnected from the power. It lost the connection and remains flashing when trying to synchronize the DSL connection. Error message in the event log: “DSL synchronization begins (training)”. The next expected missing event on my FB would be: “DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists at 116200/32504 kbit/s)”.

The purple DSL cable is probably plugged into the right place. A second one available showed the same phenomenon. The FB settings are okay so far. “Swisscom All IP” is set. An attempt to contact swisscom.ch/start resulted in a message in the form “Page not reachable”. The configuration is accessed via “fritz.box”.

I can well imagine that I’m missing something. What else do you think I could look at in a second remote debugging session?

    • So. I will briefly explain to you the possible solutions and the solutions taken along the way:

      • Checking the DSL settings didn’t help. No differences were found.
      • We tried to restore the last backup. Unfortunately that didn’t work either. Reasons unclear.
      • As an emergency solution, my friend then completely reset the box. Local IP network and DECT telephony set up. You can simply forget about that with 5% remaining vision and an IB.
      • There was only one problem with the SIP credentials, which are not easy to use for a visually impaired person starting with SMS. (Is the “.” part of the password or not?)
      • We then solved the step of setting up analog telephony together via Teamviewer.

So the box is up and running again. We couldn’t answer the question of why a power outage sends the can into nirvana so badly. She easily survived further power outages. It is currently still unclear whether we should assume that the cause was incorrect operation, an age-related defect in the hardware or a cosmic coincidence. Maybe it was just the firmware of the DSL chipset that was damaged and was rewritten by the reset…?

Maybe this description will help someone if they have the same problem.

If I were you, I would test whether the connection works with the Internet box?

Unfortunately, this is not possible due to my visual impairment and remote assistance. The IB’s support for the visually impaired is obviously pretty poor. For example, dialog boxes are not read out.

If it doesn’t work according to the instructions below, someone on site would have to try the connection.

@andiroid the point is not included in the SIP credentials. Maybe the FB got a shot?

You know from other devices that you plug it in for years, then suddenly unplug it and the device no longer works.

I would order a tech to measure the Anschluss for you.

(handicapped persons do not pay a flat rate).

Maybe it’s a loose connection. (I’m guessing that this must be the problem).

Sorry, I just checked now, the Anschluss is online again.!!!

Is it the purple round cable or ribbon cable? If it is a flat cable I would replace the cable with the [Orginal](https://www.accuswiss.ch/product_info.php?info=p23089_DSL-Internet-RJ45-Y-Kabel-fuer-AVM-Fritz-Box -7270–7390–7490.html) replace the FB cable or with the [white cable with purple plugs from Swisscom].

Dilled cables (round) are less sensitive to crosstalk.

I would replace the T+T83 socket with the RJ45 Key Stone socket.

    Keystone module BBR module RJ45

    AP network socket 2x RJ45 / 1x FO

    UP data socket 2x RJ45 / 1x FO

Yes, I know that now too. I still find it disturbing that the SMS is sent in such a misleading way. I know it, but hardly anyone else… Let alone someone who has to have it read to them. 😉

I’m currently assuming there’s a logical error, as resetting has clarified the situation. If the problem were to repeat itself, measurement would definitely be a viable option. We tried two different purple cables without success.

Thank you for the further additions!👍
