Is it possible to upgrade your subscription for the holidays?

  • Hello everyone

    I was asked today whether it was possible to upgrade a subscription from blue S to blue M for a month and then back again.

    Example:

    January - August - blue S

    September - blue M

    October - December- blue S

    I am of the opinion that this is not possible. Am I right?

    A Swisscom Mobile subscription is always linked to a contract term, usually one year.

    If you have purchased a discounted device within 6 months, changing your subscription to a lower subscription is not possible or will be subject to a fee. Otherwise, you can change your subscription at any time. Whether higher or lower. In other words, taking a higher subscription for a short time and then going back shouldn’t be a problem at all. There are no one-year waiting periods for changing the level of a mobile subscription.

    Upgrading a mobile subscription is always immediate, even if it is a new subscription that has just been taken out and is still within the minimum contract period.

    What I also don’t know is whether the normal notice period of 2 months must be observed if the mobile subscription is downgraded again.

    My answer was about taking out a new subscription.

    Of course, you can always get a higher subscription directly at short notice.

    In any case, one user took out a subscription from the “S” to the “M” and the term was then given as one year, but there was still something after 6 months of notice within this year.

    The minimum contract period for a mobile subscription is 12 months. So if you want to cancel your mobile subscription within the first 12 months after signing the contract or extending the contract, the remaining monthly fees will be charged until the minimum contract or extension period expires.

    There is also a 2 month notice period before you can withdraw from a contract without additional costs.

    Ah, I forgot to say that. The current subscription has been running for a long time. The contract period has already expired.

    Since the lady could benefit from blue benefit, the question arises whether to wear blue S and then upgrade to M for the vacation.

    Or then directly Wingo Europe for 34.95

    @Stephan_76

    Basically, Wingo Europe with the promo is always cheaper than blue S or M. Even with blue benefit and Simply Digital activated. Disadvantages of Wingo are paid telephone support, 20GB of data in the EU/UK instead of 40GB with blue M, but that should be enough for most and of course no 5G. If you want 5G to come to 34.95/month. 10 francs extra.

    5G is definitely not a must. And the 20 GB of data would also be completely sufficient.

    The subscriber still has the Basic Mobile M, yes that is the subscription with 5GB of data for Switzerland, EU, Western Europe and that was always enough.

    a year later

    Unfortunately, no one asked why he or she wanted to do this if it was just because of the holidays and he or she had the feeling that they were closed. There are only a few GB, so you can easily order a holiday package for a month or longer at an additional cost if you wish. But before I do that, I would ask a shop whether my data would be sufficient.

    I think it’s pointless to ask a shop whether the data is sufficient. Because the shop or we in the community don’t know your requirements or your usage behavior! Accordingly, it is difficult to estimate whether the data is sufficient for someone or not… but… in individual cases it can make sense to temporarily update the subscription from an S to an M, for example for 1 month. Depending on the scenario, if the device is used more intensively, including abroad - it’s not just about data but also about telephony - upgrading the subscription can be significantly cheaper, and with many more included units, than buying different options for data and telephony .

    Well, if that’s the case, it’s probably like that. Now I’m wondering why every time I asked if I had enough mobile data, additional GB were sold because I have a Mobile L subscription and that too I have 1 GB. Bad advice or something.

    @Garage57

    There is no need to go to a shop or call the hotline. By the way, you can easily check the remaining credit yourself via your cockpit: cockpit.swisscom.ch

    Then you can estimate for yourself whether the data is sufficient or not. Just note that with the blue L you are now talking about data outside the EU/UK! You only have 1GB per year, not per month!! Applies to most countries outside Europe but not to all.
