cybi the XGS-PON version is not yet available for purchase. and then Swisscom still has to certify it. In DE this version is simply not a priority. I am currently using the 5590 fibre.

As the 5690 XGS is still a long time coming, there is now the option of switching to a Fritzbox 4690 and placing a Zyxel Bridge in front of it, for example.

Although you then have two devices, it is equivalent in terms of performance.

    I will consider this alternative.

If you want to use your own home network router for a long time, it’s always good if it doesn’t have a built-in modem, because that way you’re not tied to a provider-specific, very specific Internet access technology.

In addition, the modem-less frits can also be cascaded wonderfully behind a provider router, which actually makes the superfluous purchase of an additional technology-dependent bridge superfluous.

I knew you would come up with this, my dear Werner 👍🏻😜😂

but you are also right, the “easiest” would be a 4690 behind the IB.

But you know my opinion on that 😉

I’ve been cascading my own routers behind provider access routers for over 20 years now, and in all that time I simply haven’t encountered a single situation that has prompted me to switch to a pure additional bridge.

However, if I were to encounter this situation, I would simply insert a technically suitable SFP+ slot into my own router to completely replace the provider CPE, which I don’t want to do yet.

Of course, everyone can always decide for themselves what they consider to be the best technical solution.

I have successfully set up the Zyxel Bridge PM7300 and the Fritzbox 4690. VLAN 10 is easy to enter, but option 60 is extremely tricky. I will get back to you in the next few days with instructions.

          Greetings Albatros

DHCP option 60 is always required for access to the blue Internet, but VLAN ID = 10 is only required for an FTTH connection.

And with a Wingo subscription on the same Swisscom connection, it would be different again.
