So at the moment it still doesn’t seem to be working. Swisscom Business and fresh eSim activated. Message in the cockpit: “Unfortunately the service is not yet available…”
Dear Swisscom admins: Please forward this and look for a solution. That can’t be true. According to my BMW dealer, a number of customers are affected. When can implementation be expected?
The above description still doesn’t work. It doesn’t surprise me either, since these are instructions from BMW and not swisscom. It’s not a problem with BMW, but rather a problem with swisscom and possibly not from a technical point of view, but from a contractual point of view. Company contracts with Swisscom are often not awarded directly by Swisscom, but rather by Mobilezone, for example. This suggests that they have not yet resolved their contractual situation. Because - as some have rightly suspected - it cannot be a technical problem. act point of view. Because eSIM technology has been around for more than 5 years and is therefore very well known.
Unfortunately swisscom will not confirm/admit this…
But 2024 at the earliest does not mean that it will be in 2022 or 2023. But you try it anyway and complain afterwards because it doesn’t work. There are reasons why Swisscom is not announcing any exact data for the coming year (2024). As you also wrote, this may have a connection with Mobilezone Business, Schaefer AG, etc.
It is more than understandable that as a customer you want to use a service for which you have paid. That’s why it’s clear to try again every now and then.
The majority of those who have posted something here would like more clarity in communication from BMW and Swisscom.
Monday is “from 2024” and thanks to my clairvoyant abilities I can predict that it won’t work, not always spring or summer, perhaps more towards autumn.
Hi @Vonteuvak10

We are here in the Customer Help Customer Forum. Swisscom only moderates passively here. Even though I can understand your desire, I think your chances of getting more information here are very slim. Official information is only available from Swisscom.
You can get in touch via contact form - as we all know, constant dripping wears away the stone. (And the forum here is not the Swisscom stone, but the user stone 😉)
There’s no point in using other users
Are you a Swisscom employee? Or stockholders?
to “suspect”.
Unfortunately, I left my crystal ball in the office over the holidays - so I don’t dare make an assessment. But I hope that this will be resolved soon for you.

How old or What year is your BMW iX? Unfortunately, I don’t even have the option to select a physical SIM in the menu. I can only scan the QR code. I have read that this may depend on the year of manufacture or depends on the software. However, it is not entirely understandable that the hardware in all BMW iX models is not able to do this; there is probably just a lack of interest on the BMW development side in making the corresponding software available to us free of charge on all platforms with the appropriate effort (costs). Unfortunately it’s not very customer-oriented, but it reduces costs for BMW.

I’m trying the same in a new BMW 5 series, spent over an hour on the phone with Swisscom SME hotline yesterday.
Result: “So we only have the instructions from BMW, we can’t give more support.”
Still doesn’t seem to work. I have now organised a “BMW SIM reader for personal eSIM” and hope it will work with that and a physical SIM card. I’m not prepared to pay Ubigi separately again if Swisscom is already making such a big deal about “5G in private transport”.
