Start setting 'Home' is accompanied by live TV sound.

  • At TV-Box - Settings > Display > Home - you can choose what you want to watch when you switch it on.
The ‘Last watched channel’ setting already works as desired (picture + sound).

But I don’t want to watch TV randomly and have chosen the alternative setting ‘Home’.

When you switch it on, the home screen is displayed, but is overlaid with the live sound track from the last station you watched (possibly with the over-the-top sound level of a commercial block that is currently running.)

When I switch on the box, it’s to watch a recording, to select and program programs (planned and in replay) via the TV guide, to manage my recordings, or or…
(In addition to the classic live viewing, the TV-Box offers a few other cool features.)

But I don’t want this bombardment of corrupted channel content!

With other devices equipped with blue TV (e.g. web TV, Android phone and tablet, iPad), a running program can always be completely, cleanly stopped or killed.

    But not at TV-Box!

You can silence the station using the pause button - but you cannot definitely turn it off.

And unfortunately the break is time-limited - after an hour the paused program (the audio track, at least) is continued.
I have NEVER experienced such behavior with a pause/play button ANYWHERE.

You could mute it, but you would have to unmute it again if you wanted to watch a recording, for example.

    ---——

I am very aware of the energy situation that is becoming acute. Before any Smartarse comes up with suggestions about saving power, let me say that I discovered this 1-hour time-out during my very time-consuming efforts to save my most important recordings after the raid-like ‘TV Update May 25, 2021’ (storage time now only 2 years, archiving cut to 500h,…) to weed/save.

    • @Ctrl+Alt+Del As far as I know, starting via the home screen always has/had the sound of a station running in the background, no matter which box you have.

Personally, I also find your suggestion that the TV-Box on the home screen should not be accompanied by the sound of a television station during such a start to be desirable. The sound should therefore only be activated when you go back to the TV picture or have made a selection of content in the home screen.

Of course, the behavior should only be the same when you start the home screen, but not when the system is already running when you press the “Home” button.

@RomanE could you take a look at this and see if it could be implemented?

    @Ctrl+Alt+Del

Which model of TV-Box is used?
Perform a reset/reboot (physical) of the TV-Box and the router (logical).
Set the audio mode to stereo
Turn on the TV-Box long before you turn on the TV to exit standby mode correctly
On the Swisscom Box IP2000, the tone can be adjusted using the (+) and (-) buttons below the grille.

If the problem persists, the TV-Box may be defective, request a free standard replacement from the Swisscom hotline or go directly to a shop. Also consider a newer model of the TV-Box, e.g. Swisscom Box 21 IP1800.

Hello @Black Mamba, Thanks for your suggestions.

I have the box IP2000 (although the system settings > overview says I have model Swisscom Box TV 21!).

I first noticed the behavior during pause in May 2021, home page with accompanying sound for a long time. The box and router have now been reset several times and firmware updated. Such clearly defined, reproducible errors cannot be caused by a hardware defect, but rather by programming errors.

Audio mode Stereo instead of Stereo TruVolume had no effect, neither did staggered switching on.

The +/- buttons do nothing, only affect (I assume) the volume of the built-in speaker, which I’ve never used.

For me, the effort of replacing or upgrading the box is not justified.

@Black Mamba: what happens when you start in home mode? with which box?

The pause/timeout issue occurs regardless of Home/Live startup mode.

Pressing pause is always the first thing I do after switching on, in the sense of
    ‘Simply shut the f*ck up!’

In this case, the question arises as to what you even expect. We here in the “Customers Help Customers” forum are just customers like you and can’t solve every problem. If it’s too much effort for you to contact Swisscom support and possibly replace the box, then you probably have no choice but to live with the problem.

Hello @hed So much for the KISS principle. To clarify:

These misconducts are by no means priority 1. I can live with it.

Speaking of effort - I mean the effort to:

    • to stall dear Sam, and then to convey my concerns to the first level (if possible without having to go through the sh**ss paperclip procedure again), especially if I am convinced that the HW is not the cause, and a 1:1 substitution would achieve nothing
    • weigh up the pros and cons of a product update to Box 21:
      - Cost Fr. 99,-
      - Thread ‘Standby after power supply’ (I haven’t studied it carefully)
      - More?

And why should I upgrade the product just on suspicion?

    Is that enough?

Maybe I should describe my personal situation?

I am about 95% wheelchair bound. Because of the logistics involved, I don’t go to the Swisscom shop. I would have to rely on the goodwill of my acquaintance just to send the “defective” IP2000 back via the post office.
And based on my experience with Swisscom successor products, the Box21’s power supply would not be compatible with its predecessor - I would have to move everything forward and realign the cabling in the frame, behind the TV.

So YES, the effort of box replacement or upgrade is not justified for me.

I can live with the bad behavior.

    What did I expect?

    • that you don’t just get told off with “paper clip” and then “replace hardware”.

    • that commenters report on their own experiences

    • Limitation with the help of other users - they know the behavior / don’t have the behavior with the FW of Box XY, etc.

      until

    • In case of escalation, push to Swisscom for improvement

Luckily, @roku73 got in touch, he knows and identifies with the issue and has already intervened with Swisscom. Perfect! Thank you!

    And:

@[deleted] also recognized the (much rarer) pause/timeout problem in the ‘Sorting’ thread.

In my opinion, post 5 by @roku73 can be considered a solution.

    Thanks everyone.$

Thank you very much for the information/clarifications.

If at some point you want or need to replace/exchange a TV-Box, IB, WB, you don’t have to go to a Swisscom shop; there are various options from pick-up kiosk, post office, leaving it in the mailbox to exchanging it at the front door by the postman. And there is no financial risk either, as there is a return policy of 10 days. So the effort is low.

    And as for the SAM:

Formulate the question briefly and if the SAM acts stubborn, send the same question again 1-2 times via copy-paste and you will be taken to a chat with a person or a callback from the helpdesk will be offered.
