When it was still Billag, you paid more, in the pot, (I don’t remember the percentage, that’s why I say roughly)

The private broadcasters received part of the pot (around 35 percent of the whole was distributed to these broadcasters), the public broadcasters received 45 percent of the pot, and the rest was distributed to the regional broadcasters!

After the abolition of Billag, came Seraf, where you pay less, which means less in the pot for distribution without VAT, but with more private channels, so what was lost has to flow in somewhere.

Because there has always been advertising, and the advertising provider demands, let’s say, 10 commercial blocks per day (this is just an example) to the station where it is to be broadcast, and in return they get x…. sfr!

This financing system via Serafe was decided by our politicians and approved via referendum (voted no because I think that financing system in Denmark makes much more sense for public television).

The customer at those private broadcasters is the one who buys slots there to run commercials. The TV viewer is *not* the customer.

In the case of encrypted broadcasting via satellite, contracts with the telcos are required for the feed-in and distribution of the TV programs.

Now VHS was a thorn in the side of private broadcasters, but it was technically not possible to incorporate such restrictions.

Yes, I know… that’s how I did it too. Now I save 30 francs a month and have Replay + and pay with a pay TV subscription where almost all channels have 7 days of replay and recording doesn’t cost 40 francs. Thank you providers from the east of Switzerland! This is how TV should be.

TV Box arrived free of charge. Connection fees were also free and I can use 5 devices at the same time. So everything is fine,

You can also record the program today and then fast forward as you wish. You don’t even need a video recorder. You can still do this with BlueTV, for example. The fast-forwarding restriction only applies to Replay TV with the exception of series: This restriction also applies to series recordings. But as far as I know, if you record a single episode of a series manually, you can play it without forced commercials. Please correct me if that is not true.

There are also various devices that can make recordings, such as video recorders. Depending on how you receive the program and what equipment you use, this can also be Smart TVs, etc.

Swisscom TV is simply an expensive thing. You can’t compare it with other providers. Nowadays there are enough alternatives for watching TV.
