UPC (and Zattoo) also has the children’s channel Boing plus, which is available via satellite via FTA:

Overall, I personally think it would be good if the Top Italiano + package were upgraded a little, for example with C+I. This package lags quite a bit behind its German and French counterparts.

According to Wikipedia, Boing Plus is almost a copy of Boing. They send the same programs in Timeshift +1 and Cartoonito comes at night (also already available on Swisscom). Therefore the transmitter would actually be unnecessary.

NOVE is currently only available in SD for DVB-T; for Sat, the HD version is supposed to be encrypted. NOVE was also once available in HD from Swisscom but the version is no longer available. I think that UPC simply forgot to update the channel list (like Swisscom with La7d… the channel has no longer been available in HD since 2020 but it is still listed as HD).

C+I is a good idea (we already have History IT from A&E Networks) and there is also “Blaze” from A&E.

@CC1835 I’m not so sure about that, since Nove HD is included in an additional package with the UPC, i.e. the Italian-language Premium Plus.

I have no idea why UPC does that, NOVE isn’t pay TV at all, HD or not. This is a completely normal full-program channel like RTL or Pro7 (9th place in DVB-T).

Edit: maybe I know why. I used to be a UPC customer and NOVE used to be Deejay TV (until 2016). Now Deejay TV is back but back then it was replaced by NOVE. If I remember correctly, Deejay TV was not part of UPC’s main offering but rather an additional package. It probably stayed that way even though the station became NOVE.

But just, NOVE as HD would be great. I have no idea if that is possible now. I hardly think so. Let’s wait until 2023, then maybe a little more HD will come from Italy.

@CC1835 Sure, but the HD version is encrypted and probably costs money. Nove HD is also encrypted via satellite. UPC probably has an agreement.
By the way, many private parties in Germany don’t simply have the HD version in the provider’s basic packages, nor RTL HD, RTL HD is only available in additional HD packages (for 5 euros), we have the CH versions here, that’s it regulated somewhat differently.

I just read in an Italian digital forum that the HD version will probably come, when exactly is still unclear (maybe as early as March 2022). Not just NOVE but all FTA Discovery channels, i.e.: NOVE, Giallo, Real Time, Food Network, DMAX, Motor Trend. Only the kids channels (Frisbee and K2) remain in SD, but become H264.

Everything is still uncertain and unclear. Let’s see what comes.
