Internet Box 3 with feedback

  • Hello everyone

I want to get the Internet Box 3. They set up the whole thing in the office with a return feed back into the distribution box and through a switch into the other rooms.

So far it’s all clear to me. The two RJ45 ports are now occupied by the IB3.

I’m old-fashioned and would like to connect my iMac and the printer, which is also in the office, with a LAN connection.

Now to my question, that’s where the technical ends for me: Can I still use the remaining Ethernet ports on the IB3 or do they no longer have a function?

    Thank you.

    Greetings Steff

      Yes, of couse.

On the back of the Interbox 3 there are 5 ports for network cables with different speeds. They can ALL be used.

When connecting a switch, it is important that it supports the speed of the port.

    An example:

If I connect a switch or a network card that “only” supports 100 Mbit/s to the 1 Gbit/s port, I have losses in bandwidth….

Yes, I knew about the switches.

It has absolutely nothing to do with old-fashioned. Because an Etherent Anschluss is still the only, permanently high-performance, problem-free, trouble-free Anschluss in a LAN in 2022. WLAN is good for small devices without Ethernet Anschluss, all other devices should be networked via Gigabit Ethernet.
