Wrong broadcast ORF

Why is Swisscom suddenly showing the regional program South Tyrol Today instead of Super G from 7.30 p.m.??

On Zattoo the Super G continues to run normally… Weird

This is not shown by Swisscom, but by the so-called RAS, the provider from South Tyrol, whose signal the ORF is legally allowed to feed in to Swisscom. It’s the ORF that decides, not Swisscom, but I’m currently watching the Super G in the replay (okay with a 10-minute interruption, but there’s definitely no SC employee sitting there and flashing “South Tyrol today” on their own) on the ORF, so everything’s fine.

@Gaeilgeoir and where does Zattoo get the ORF signal from? I think probably also from the RAS. As I said, the Super G ran on Zattoo without interrupting the regional broadcast…

@tom4 No idea, possibly from the RAS, but it doesn’t have to be. I don’t have a Zattoo subscription, so I can’t watch their replay, which they usually show on ORF 1 at 7:30 p.m. But I think it is impossible for Swisscom to intervene in the ORF programs on its own initiative. Maybe someone here has a UPC/Quickline subscription and can take a look at the replay there.

There was no regional program from South Tyrol on Zattoo. Zattoo probably has to intercept the ORF reception from satellite. I can’t explain it any other way.

Some providers actually seem to get the ORF signal from Sat. As far as I know, clearly not allowed. That’s why there have already been legal hijinks. I once mentioned this in a forum regarding Teleboy, who also do it that way. Then I was shouted at by Teleboy, which made me think that they were getting the signal via an unauthorized channel, with the addition that they didn’t provide any information about such internals.

Do these providers really have a corresponding contract with the ORF? Only this would legalize it. If that were possible, why would the small ones do it but not the big Swisscom? A real difference between the DVB-T signal from South Tyrol and Sat is the picture and sound quality, which are much better (less compressed) over Sat.

@roman70 That surprises me too, Zattoo also had ORF III HD before the RAS in South Tyrol switched from SD to HD. Well, what Swisscom and UPC are doing is probably the legally cleaner option.
