Internet Booster 5G Fastmile

  • Hello everyone,

In November 2020, the new Internet booster with 5G support, the Fastmile 5G from Nokia, was announced.

Is there any news about the rollout yet?

I can’t say today how the marketing will work here. I would wait for the official announcement and then react accordingly. But it may also be the case that beta testers are being sought here in the community. Just keep your eyes open 🙂

    Hello Roger,

If there is a rollout in Q4 21, there should already be beta testers for the Fastmile 5G receiver.

Is there anything new on the topic?

    Best regards!

Hello, we are in the internal user test…. (including me) 😀

I can’t say whether we will expand the field trial. I won’t be able to clarify it until Monday because the colleague who coordinates it is still on vacation this week.

    Best regards

    Roger

I asked the PM about the booster and it is planned that we will later expand the trial to external customers. Because of the low availability of the devices, this will probably happen selectively.

The launch date is not yet fixed and depends heavily on delivery quantities. We won’t start until we have a critical amount of stock.

    Best regards

    @Roger G

Is there a contact address somewhere where you can report errors with the 5G booster and get feedback as to why it is happening and what has been done.

Installationen, Netzwerk, Internet, Computertechnik, OS Windows, Apple und Linux.

If the checker or Kundencenter shows more speed with the booster, then you can also order it.

No, this is a product like any other we have. We are out of the field trial, so if you have any problems or questions, please contact the hotline as usual.

Talked to the hotline today. The colleague first had to find out more, but then called back after 15 minutes. The statement was that I already have the latest device with the 4G Booster and there was no 5G Booster 😥

Who can I contact to still get the 5G part?

    Greetings and thanks

    Andrew

    • WalterB has responded to this post.

Thanks. I called there too and was transferred to technology. They took another closer look and said that a 5G booster wouldn’t do anything for us and couldn’t increase the upload speed compared to 4G. 😥

        I also called yesterday and was told that I can’t get the 5G device/activate it because I don’t live near a 5G antenna…

The fact is that the new booster can also be attached to the house and not just to the window… i.e. I don’t have a window where I can get optimal reception…

The current booster only gives me +30 Mb DL… although according to Checker I could achieve 170… and I even tested it with the Zyxel NR7101 and got +300 Mb…

Then the L2 support told me that I might be able to buy a Nokia 5G booster in the Swisscom shop for 149CHF, but couldn’t confirm to me whether it could be activated afterwards…
