Bug? Split WLAN frequency active during steering - disruption

  • Is it possible that there is a software defect in the IB2 related to the WLAN steering?

    Specific scenario:

    * Starting point

    * matched SSID “my-wlan”

    * WLAN steering active

    * Change (to get more control over 2.4 GHz)

    * 2.4 GHz SSID = mine24

    * 5GHz SSID = mine5

    -> but (unintentionally) WLAN steering *not* deactivated

    --> rebind Samsung phones M31, S6 edge+ to both new SSID

    --> WLAN on the cell phones works

    … and overnight / after some time(?) the exclamation mark (!) appears on the WLAN on both cell phones, indicating that the Internet is no longer available.

    Any switching between the SSID on the cell phones produces no results - the cell phones associate successfully (also visible in the IB2 admin interface), but have no connectivity.

    By chance I saw that WLAN steering was still active (see above) and I explicitly deactivated WLAN steering.

    -> Both cell phones have connectivity again.

    There is the note “WLAN band steering only works if the WLAN name (SSID) is the same for both WLAN networks.” - However, it seems that there is a malfunction when steering is activated and with different SSIDs.

    • To clarify - my immediate problem has been solved, I would just like to point out that there is at most an imperfection in the steering.
