To the nine TV box

I received the new TV box from Swisscom weeks ago and paid Fr. 139.- I was just upset about the new TV box because it kept hanging up and I had to keep restarting it. I never had any problems with the old UHD TV. Now I have reconnected the old UHD. I am of the opinion that you should first check the new TV box properly before putting it on sale. I’ll have you back in the meantime

Sent. Looks great, quality not recommended. I hope Swisscom can get the problem with the new TV box under control.

It would be important to find out at this point in time how the Swisscom TV-Box was connected. In any case, the Swisscom TV-Box is running very well and there are already several thousand of them in use, including two of them.

Of course, there can also be defective TV boxes; in any case, most problems arise from the connection to the Internet box.

All done. Even with the Swisscom hotline, but no success. I have the new TV box

Even changed in the Swisscom shop, it continued with the same song. The old TV box UHD has the flat top. No problem. The new TV boxes have not been properly tested.

Yes, and how was the Swisscom TV-Box connected to the Internet box?

In any case, if there were problems with the “new” Swisscom TV-Box, they were mostly solved here in the community because the TV-Box was also tested by several thousand users at the beginning.

In the meantime, I sent a letter to the Swisscom office. It can’t be the case that the new TV-Box that was replaced doesn’t work either and continues in the same silence. Yes, it could be that there is a rotten egg underneath. But not two. I ask myself why don’t I have any problems with the predecessor? Something is wrong here.

I had, or have, problems with the stability of the box (IP2000). I also replaced it, following the advice of support, and it didn’t help. The new box hung up after a few days, freezes and no longer responds to input.

I then replaced the HDMI cable, which was a short one to the AV receiver, with the original cable from Swisscom. It’s just rolled up now. It’s obviously better shielded.

Since then I’ve had fewer problems with the box, but it still shows strange errors sometimes. Then the only thing that helps is a restart.

I suspect that the box has poor electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) because I live right next to a Swisscom telephone exchange with an antenna mast for cell phones and Eurosignal (pagers).

The Eurosignal has already caused problems twice, with a tape and a DVD player. Shielding or unrolling the power cable was also successful there.

The HDMI cable was probably like an antenna for the Euro signal, because it corresponds exactly to the length for Lambda/4, (46cm) gives 163 MHz. Eurosignal is between 169.4 and 169.8125MHz.

In Swisscom’s defence, I also have to say that I also had stability problems with the UPC box; only a restart helped.

Nice, but we still don’t know how it’s connected. Simplest setup: TV-Box connected directly to the router with a network cable, TV-Box connected to the TV with the included HDMI cable, then it should actually work.

And if you’ve caught a rotten egg (which can obviously happen), then it should work like this once you replace the box at the latest. If not, then the error can be found somewhere else.

The first point would then be to try a different HDMI Anschluss on the TV…

If it’s still relevant to you, you can explain what “everything done” means exactly. 😉

Are there any powerlines, switches, WLAN boxes or similar involved?

No, it didn’t help. Also no cable replacement etc. with the new TV box until I decided to connect the old UPC. With the help of the Swisscom hotline, I started the old TV-Box again. And it runs perfectly. Therefore, I believe that these new TV boxes from Swisscom are not sufficiently sophisticated to be connected to all locations. Therefore, I am of the opinion that the new TV boxes can only be used with fiber optic connections and not with copper cables.

OK, too bad. Thanks for the feedback.

It is true that the new box only runs on fiber optics. not. I “only” have a copper connection and the new Swisscombox runs wonderfully.

Well - there are far more prominent examples of people increasingly using “alternative” facts to build a reality that is consistent with themselves.

Since this is just about a Swisscom box that was mistakenly grounded, the collateral damage, which is certainly unnecessary, is fortunately neither relevant to democracy nor society.

Hello @roland9

Which internet box do you have? Connected to the TV-Box with the included cable? TV-Box connected to the TV with the included HDMI cable? What kind of TV? We can only help you if you provide precise information. The fact that you paid Fr. 139 for the TV-Box doesn’t help us in the forum.

Greetings tinu

I will continue to use the previous TV-Box. UHD box. I have no problems with this one. And I was also advised to do so by Swisscom.

Just to your question; I have the Internet router; Black at the top and white at the bottom from Swisscom. And I only have fr. 129 Paid for the TV-Box and not 139. like I said first. I have returned the TV box in the meantime.

Couldn’t a Swisscom employee comment on the EMC compatibility of the TV Box IP2000?

After all, we are now 2 customers with the same problem. 🤔

Yes, I was able to install the new TV box, but it always lost the channels. They couldn’t solve it. I reinstalled the UHD TV box, the flat top white UHD box, and sent the new gray TV box back to Swisscom. And since then I haven’t had any problems with the flat TV UHD box above.
