You can’t really compare the “quarantine” of a virus scanner with a corona quarantine 😉
When a virus scanner sends a file to “quarantine”, this simply means that it renames it (so that it is no longer executable/openable) and moves it to a special, hidden folder.
These files then stay there forever - unless you explicitly tell the virus scanner to “release” the files again.
It may also be good to know that “computer viruses” are not infectious in the sense that their mere presence represents a threat. It only becomes dangerous when the files are opened.
(If you uninstall the virus scanner, the quarantine is usually deleted. Sometimes you are asked what should happen to the files during uninstallation.)
