0800 Number - Costs

  • Good day

Due to the current Corona situation, I also work from home.
I am a cross-border commuter (resident in DE & Arbeitgeber CH) and am now supposed to clock in and out of work via a telephone system. This generally works well, but I had a question about the costs:

I received a Swiss landline number and a Swiss 0800 number for the stamping calls.
I don’t have a landline at the moment, so I have to call via cell phone, but I have a German cell phone contract (Telekom).
The 0800 number is supposed to be free, but it only works from the Swiss network.
    What is more cost-effective:

1.) I use Swisscom when selecting the network and then choose 0800 without a country code but with international charges for the Swiss network…

2.) I stay in the Telekom network and dial 0800 with the country code…

    ?

    Many many thanks!

Yes, depending on the company, this is possible. For example, Swisscom writes the following on its website about how to reach the hotline:

      ---———————————————- ————————————————– –

      HotlinePersonal advice: faults, product advice, SME concerns, service concerns Private customers 0800 800 800 From abroad +41 800 800 800 SMEs 0800 055 055 From abroad +41 800 055 055

      ---———————————————- ————————————————-

However, it depends on the 0800 number whether you can be reached from abroad or not. Some go, others don’t.

    Thanks!
I was hoping that it would also be free from the foreign network…
I can’t access my individual connection records at the moment… otherwise I would have looked at them.
And until I get back to it, I don’t want to generate any unnecessary costs 😉
But THANK YOU in advance for the assessment.

@Prieheuschiock84 The “Roam-like-at-Home” principle has been in effect within the EU since 2017. Switzerland is not a member of the EU, but with certain Telekom mobile phone contracts this principle also applies to roaming calls from Switzerland. Depending on the Telekom contract, the duration of use may also be limited.

My suggestion: Find out exactly what applies to your telecom contract. It may be worth selecting “Swisscom” when selecting the network and then dialing the Swiss landline number (not the 0800 number).

    Hello zäme,

Of course I think it’s great that at least “SWISSCOM” can also be reached from abroad with some 800 numbers.

If this is not possible with another company, you can always:
Find the official contact number if it is urgently necessary!
