Good morning,

Following a move I called the Swisscom hot line, technical, no one was aware of this possibility of using a mobile with an internet box. Perhaps Swisscom should be informed?

Good evening.

Simple really. I followed the instructions (I already have the Swisscom Home app) i.e. plugged my iPhone (11, IOS15 I believe at the time) into the USB/3G LTE socket of my router (Internet Box Standard with Firmware version installed: 11.03.46/11.03.48/01638) via the Apple lightning/USB cable and tried to get the box connected via the mobile data on the phone. All I got was a failure message and a suggestion to ring a Swisscom help line. The person I spoke to there said he’d never heard of this approach and suggested I just set up a personal hotspot from my phone. This worked of course (I knew it would) but it didn’t connect the rest of my house via the internet box which the Swisscom page suggested I could do.

@murgy

thank you for the feedback 😀

Internet Box Standard is an old router model from Swisscom.

We must think about evolving towards the Internet.Box 3 to benefit from new very practical functions, in particular in the field of the home network and connectivity

Dear @murgy

Were you at that time connected to your home WiFi on your iPhone? If not, that might be the reason why you received an error message in the Home App. If the Router has no connection to the internet, you won’t be able to make changes via Home App, unless you’re connected to your homenetwork.

Please try the following steps:

  1. Log into the Web portal (http://internetbox.home or via the IP Adress 192.168.1.1).
  2. Go to Applications.
  3. Click Internet Mobile Connect.
  4. Select the Internet Mobile Connect checkbox and follow the instructions in the Web portal.

Connect your iPhone via the Lightning Cable with the Router and enable “Personal Hotspot” in your Settings App.

This solution should work out.

thank you for the intervention, it will undoubtedly be well appreciated 😀

I have to work from home for health reasons and under no circumstances can I not have internet for a whole day.

I would need to know the exact time of the interruption. How can I find out? This is imperative for me. Thank you, regards H.B.

I think it’s a shame that when the mobile phone is plugged in, the overview on the router shows “Not supported” instead of “Internet connection” or “Internet backup”.
