Internet-Box 3 >> Mystrom 2000 Powerline >> WLAN-Box lights up red

  • Hello everyone

    I recently installed the Internet-Box 3. Works perfectly. Using MyStrom-Powerline 2000 (latest generation), I route the Internet to the attic, where the second Powerline adapter does its work. So far so good.

    However, in order to also have WiFi in the attic, I bought a Swisscom WiFi box. I “paired” these directly to the Internet-Box 3. That worked perfectly. I then moved the WiFi box into the attic and connected it directly to the powerline adapter.

    - The LED lights up solid red.

    - But the functionality (LAN + W-LAN) is available.

    - Although the WiFi box is displayed in the mobile phone app, the devices connected to the box are not displayed.

    Question: What do I have to do so that the LED on the WiFi box lights up white?

    Greetings and have a nice evening.

      Hello @ebu

      Question after you paired them? In addition to the IB3, did you briefly de-energize it and let it restart without connecting it to the cable?

      Because then the LED should light up white. And only then do I move the WLAN box to its intended location.

      Greetings Lorenz

    Hello @Lori-77

    No, I didn’t do it that way. After pairing, I let it run directly on the IB3 for about 30 minutes. Then switched off, unplugged and connected to the DG. 230V and LAN to the powerline adapter. Then switched on… LED stays red.

    If I understand you correctly, I will deregister the WLAN-Box completely, then pair it again directly on the IB3 (as usual). Then switch off and remove the LAN cable and switch on the WLAN-Box again. Right next to the IB3. Then it should glow white.

    I won’t get around to it tonight, but I’ll give it a try tomorrow.

    Thank you for the tip and have a nice evening.

    Greetings, Erich

    @ebu

    If you are looking for a permanently problem-free, high-performance, stable and error-free solution, it is best to forget about PowerLAN and have a Gigabit Ethernet network built.

    The effort involved may be very high, but it is worth it.

    @ebu

    I have an installation exactly like this (2*PL2000, 1x WB) that has been stable for >2 years! in operation. But I can remember that there was a bit of a problem with the first pairing of the WB…

    regarding Powerline:

    I’m probably “lucky” because there’s no vectoring and no g.fast and so PL is running stably yet. But since g.fast is planned for next summer, I have to come up with something. LAN not possible because from the 2nd floor in the apartment building in the craft room on the ground floor at the other end of the building. There may then be a 4G hotspot in the craft room with a VPN into the home network.

    Maybe I can also get FTTH (XGS-PON), so I could keep PL running.

    Good morning, at an early hour 🙂 when the rest of the family is still listening at the mattress… including the dog.

    It worked!

    I followed your instructions and de-energized the Wi-Fi box after pairing (with a LAN cable). Removed the LAN cable and switched on the W-LAN box. Waited a bit until it glowed white. Then switched off, unplugged and moved into the roof.

    The WLAN-Box is then plugged directly into the powerline adapter, switched on and waited. After about 1 minute it glowed white. Then with LAN to the switch. The mobile phone app shows both the devices connected via the switch and the printer that is connected to the network via WiFi.

    The only difference between your tip and the implementation was that I set the WiFi box to the factory settings - via browser access.

    So everything is fine at the moment and thank you for the tip. I would never have thought of that.

    Best regards, Erich

    You’re probably right. But I can report that I haven’t had any problems with Powerline in the attic for many years. I just switched from the 500 to the 2,000.
