Test the new Internet-Box 3

Hello everyone

At the end of the year we will be launching our newest router on the market: The Internet-Box 3.

IB3_Anleitung-v-frei.png

The Internet-Box 3 supports the latest WLAN standard Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). This means less susceptibility to failure, more capacity and higher bandwidths of up to 4.8 Gbit/s. Of course the Internet-Box 3 is compatible with the popular WLAN-Box.

10 Gbit/s fiber optic technology (XGS-PON) is now also supported.

The quality of the hardware and software has been checked and improved in internal field tests for several months. Now we would like to offer up to 50 forum users the opportunity to test the Internet-Box 3 as well.

I’ll post the link for registration here in the forum on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. First come, first serve.

If you are among the first 50, you will receive an invitation email with further information. For example, we expect that you give us feedback and that we are allowed to access your box for error analysis. Of course, private data is not viewed.

The requirement is an Internet Anschluss from Swisscom.

Thanks and greetings,

MichelB

Although then only a maximum of 2.5 will come out of the back…

I think 99% of users don’t care, we’ll be happy when we get down to over 120 Mbit/s.

    • hed likes that.

    @Herby

1×2.5 Gig + 4×1 Gig + WiFi6 + external access to USB3 storage = 10 Gbps if you use everything at the same time 😊

I’m now assuming that the IB3 will be delivered with the same config as the IB2, so I don’t have to set up VPN again, for example. And if not, that’s fine, then I’ll be busy for a few minutes or hours. So tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. I will sit in wait in front of my PC and look forward to good things. 😉

The same thing happens when changing from an IB2 to an IB3 as when changing from an IB2 to an IB2. Most things are set up again automatically. Other things not consciously. This includes device names, port forwarding, VPN, local SIP account. Either you do this manually or you make sure to configure the IB2 beforehand and then import it into the IB3.

But telephones, WLAN-Box, telephone book & co are back.

What does it actually look like when you have an internet booster in operation? Is this already compatible with the IB3?

Yes No problem. Booster works. with IB3

    ….keep on rockin'

Because otherwise a conscious reset becomes pointless and useless? What use is a reset to me if everything is then automatically transferred to the IB again, including my “configuration”? 😉

I agree with a factory reset, I even expect that nothing at all will be taken over. But when changing the box, for example IB2 -> IB3 (or replacement IB2 -> IB2), everything should be taken over in a plug-n-play sense.

    I would say:

For the “unsuspecting” automatic recovery of WiFi and phonebook is sufficient

Those who “know” use backup/restore or, in special cases, manual “restore”

Agreed, it would still be convenient and nice to have if there was a complete automatic data transfer in addition to the factory reset.

The transmission power (i.e. download from the end device perspective) of the WLAN is limited by regulations. The same values apply as for IB2. When designing the hardware and antenna, we ensured that the range is at least as good or slightly better. The sensitivity of the new WLAN chipset is better and so we see a slight advantage of IB3 in uploads over IB2.

To extend the range and especially for using the TV-Box via WLAN, we offer the WLAN-Box.

As written in my post, the focus of Wi-Fi 6 is less interference and more capacity. Of course, you will benefit from this as soon as Wi-Fi 6 compatible devices become widespread.

    Greeting,
