I got the update yesterday.

Version 3.0 (7730)

My device: Huawei BTV-W09 / OS 7.0

Unfortunately the picture has been very poor since the update. Blurry and very poor image quality.

This is independent of which channel I watch or whether I watch recordings.

My question:

Does anyone have the same problems?

Are there already solutions for this?

I had no problems with the previous version of the app.

Unfortunately, the app is no longer usable for me.

Show original language (German)

The app’s new look takes some getting used to, but it’s a lot of fun: on my Samsung tablet (OS 7.1.1) the picture quality is extremely poor on all channels. The update is absolutely useless.

The funny thing is that it is impossible to give the app a bad rating in the Google Play Store via the Swisscom network. Neither on the tablet, nor on the cell phone, or on the PC in the browser.. suddenly no internet connection everywhere when sending the bad review… but email/WoT/Spotify runs smoothly.. A rogue who thinks evil of it, or dear Swisscom?

Hello everyone

We are aware of the issue regarding poor image quality and are working on it. The problem only affects certain Android models. For reasons that are still unclear, they select the lowest streaming profile (0.5 Mbit) and then “stuck” on it. If there is enough bandwidth, the streaming profile should adjust dynamically (i.e. at the beginning/for the first few seconds it is normal for the image quality to be low, but it should get better). We are trying to clarify why this only affects certain devices/models and what workarounds are possible until then.

In short: we are working on it

Hello everyone

Image quality update:

We were now able to apply a workaround that improved the image quality.

The original issue is still being processed.

Please provide brief feedback from the affected users. Thanks.

I currently have version 2.7.2 on the device again. Was able to reinstall this from Google Play a few days ago. But I will only install version 3.0.1 after the holidays to prevent something from going wrong.

Maybe a stupid question: How do I get v3.0? Despite Note9 and Tab S4, I only ever get the old version…

The update should appear automatically in the next few days. I still have the old version of my Note9 and Tab S3. An update is not displayed.

Hello everyone

Info regarding the staggered update of the new Android TV Air app

The update comes in stages. With the Google Play Store, this means that a defined percentage, users randomly selected by the Google Play Store (i.e. defined by the store, we have no influence on it) receives the update. Everyone should have received it in a few days. can see in the store.

From the moment everyone sees the update, a message (pop-up) will appear indicating that you can do so from December 31st. only the new app can be used. I.e. from December 31st the old app can no longer be used. Then at the latest you must install the update.

Good evening

I only got version 3.0 today, while others already have the update 🤔

The image quality is really terrible!…the app is so useless for me!

Will version 3.0.1 fix this problem?

I also have to add that the update wasn’t really successful in many respects. It feels half-finished.

The option to stream directly from the app to the Google Chromecast is also missing. It’s a shame, practically every other media app (dazn, sky,…) now has this option.

For me, this new version is almost a step backwards overall.

Kind regards

Hi @Dustin

Thanks for the feedback. We are grateful for any criticism as long as it is constructive. We are aware that there are always people who don’t like the new app. want to have the tried and tested back. Unfortunately it is not possible to please everyone. Here are a few more answers & questions:

> I only got version 3.0 today, while others already have the update 🤔

This is quite possible with a staggered rollout. Either you are part of those chosen randomly by the Google Store or you are not.

> The image quality is really poor!

The original problem with the image quality that occurred on some devices could be minimized with a workaround, which other users also confirmed (see previous posts…). Work continues on the final solution to the problem. Can you tell us what kind of device you use (brand, model, OS version)?

> I also have to add that the update wasn’t really successful in many respects. It feels half-finished.

Please be more specific. What seems half-finished to you? What do you miss compared to before?

> …Google Chromecast…

Still coming.

    Hello EdgarJ:smile:

First of all, sorry for my previous posting, various statements were written out of frustration. I’m generally not that easy to speak to on Swisscom at the moment, and since December 1st I’ve had no internet, TV or landline after moving! The TV emergency solution via “Pocket Connect” and Chromecast is anything but satisfactory. Now there’s the update from the Air app, which is further disrupting my plans, the poor image quality and content that I can no longer stream. In addition, there are things about the app that were good before and are now missing… when you add everything up, it makes me completely frustrated! But letting it out here is the wrong way, I totally see that:thumbs_up:

    - New version, rollout
Okay thanks, then I’ll just wait for version 3.0.1

    - Regarding the poor image quality on my cell phone, I can provide you with the following information:
    tv-app-info.png

    - What am I missing compared to the previous version?
For example, it is no longer possible to zap in the guide and the previously selected station continues to play in the footer area. In addition, the station always changes when I want to pull down the Android status bar at the top. There are also crashes, the phone restarts completely, meaning the app is more unstable than before. Timeline in the guide is sometimes not live. During replays it often happens that it often jumps forward to live. As already mentioned, the poorer quality and that as an STV customer I can no longer stream various channels via HDMI (via ChromeCast on TV).

    - To Google Chromecast
I was almost expecting or at least hoping that this streaming option would be integrated directly into a major update like this.

    My conclusion:
On the whole, I am still of the opinion that the new version of the Air app is not quite finished! sweat_smile.png “:smile_sweat:”)…but that’s basically the case these days Well, that’s the way it is with software, apps or games! Testing a half-finished version (beta), of course, bugs are definitely discovered quicker than if they were this would only be tested internally. But that’s not always an advantage for the customer:meh:

So I really hope that my Swisscom line can be reconnected in the next few days and is running like it was before the move! /ok_hand.png “:okay_hand:”) I’ve always been happy with Swisscom TV, I praised it, raved about it and recommended it to others!…but the last three weeks have left a clear mark on my satisfaction! /smilies/sad.png “”)

But as we all know, hope dies last:smile:

Wish you a nice evening:v_hand: LG Dustin

    Hi @Dustin

Thanks for the feedback. This is how this helps us. No problem, letting off steam is part of it as long as it remains respectful.

Regarding Image quality, we note that certain Samsung models are mainly affected. The current workaround should largely address the problem. We are aware that it is not yet optimal and, as I said, we are still working on it.

We are also aware that some functions are different, no longer available or not yet available and that customers miss exactly these. There are several factors at play here that we cannot easily change. However, we hear your voices and take them with us.

With a new app, there are always certain teething problems at the beginning that are only discovered in the field, especially when it comes to stability. That’s why your feedback is so valuable to us. Compared to iOS, Android (unfortunately) has a large number of possible brands/models, all of which can have their own quirks. That doesn’t make our task any easier. In any case, we are committed to continuing to expand and improve the app.

Childhood illnesses? I don’t see myself as a guinea pig so that project managers only receive their bonus if the release date is met, regardless of whether the app is any good or not. That would be the job of the programmers to ensure that the app works on different devices. Or do we all get a discount for testing the app and reporting the errors? We Swisscom customers pay a lot of money for quality - that’s why we’re here. But Swisscom increasingly prioritizes quantity over quality! Too bad

I have an SM-T550 with software 7.1.1 and have been struggling with various errors since the update.

    1. The image quality was poor at the beginning -> Swisscom was only able to fix this problem “temporarily”.

    2. Interruptions when playing all channels -> The picture stops - the message “Automatic retry” appears or another message appears that the selected channel cannot be played at the moment. It can’t be the bandwidth or router because everything was purchased expensively by Swisscom.

    3. When you open the TV guide you can see the channels but the programs are only displayed blurry -> Workaround: close the app, clear the cache and try again.

    4. Further errors can be found in the forum and new ones are added almost every day.

Unfortunately, the longer it goes on, the more impatient consumers would rather have an unfinished app with new features today that they will never use anyway than wait until tomorrow for a finished, mature product.

Therefore, the principle that it is not the best but the fastest who wins has long been the principle in marketing and business administration.

    Hello everyone

I would also like to share my findings about TV Air 3(.0) as objectively as possible - in the hope that these shortcomings will be corrected (or already are and will be in the next update)…

    -> Scheduled recordings:

    • With the planned series recordings, I was able to select several planned recordings from a series using Multiselect on TV Air 2 and then cancel these recordings (also applies to recorded episodes of series recordings) - this option no longer exists - there is definitely a different way to be comfortable…
    • If I scroll to the bottom of the planned recordings (the furthest planned recording) and cancel this (or one of the planned series recordings in a series), the app jumps back to the earliest planned recording (i.e. at the top of the selection). This means you have to scroll back to the bottom of the list to edit the next, furthest planned recording. What’s even worse is when you want to delete something somewhere in the middle… you can practically never find it anymore - because (at least) I can’t find any visible scroll bars that could serve as a navigation aid. Please “copy” the logic from TV Air 2 there 😉
    • Another point when editing series recordings: if I cancel a planned recording, it randomly disappears from the view of planned episodes immediately, after another canceled episode or only after leaving the series
    • When editing a planned series (e.g. deleting repeats of an episode), the app hangs after 2-5 episodes and the app has to be restarted.
    • Adding a new series recording with TV Air 3 is very strange - because: 1) I add a new planned series recording in TV Air 3 2) if I watch it on the TV after recording the first episode, for example, the TV box does not recognize the series recording and the Series recording must be activated again on the TV.
    • Just noticed: I watched today’s episode of a series on TV and deleted it straight away - on the TV Air 3 app I see the series at the top (i.e. as the latest recording) - but when I go into the series, I see the 2nd one Weeks old recording that I didn’t delete…
    • General statement regarding series recordings: If a series is broadcast on different channels, all planned (and as far as I remember also made) recordings are listed under the series name. Can this be separated (again)? TV Air 2 showed this separately.

    -> (Menu) arrangement under “Recordings”:

    • Nice and fancy that you can now click on your recordings according to genre (films, series,…) - unfortunately for many people that the order of the “tabs” cannot be changed - AND the planned recordings were placed way to the right . If the order could be edited, you could move the tabs that you need (a lot) to the left, which would make it easier to use. You have implemented this perfectly in the bottom navigation bar (recordings, TV guide, search,…).
    • What I’ve always missed about TV Air: The ability to switchably display the recordings (taken) by date or A-Z. Luckily you managed to do this with the web version. A-Z can be very helpful in finding specific recordings.

    -> Handling in playback:

    • When I watch a recording, the app does not remember the time until which I watched. Then I can search again and again until I have already looked. It even worked reliably forwards and backwards from/to the TV under TV Air 2.
    • Unfortunately, the FFD and REW buttons (analogous to the TV box remote control) were removed during an early update of the TV Air 2 app, meaning that it is no longer possible to view a recording in time-lapse. Please make this available again, possibly also on/off in the options in case people find the screen too cluttered.

    -> Menu item “My Account”:

    • Please explain the right “pie chart” name “Downloads”: if I’m interpreting this correctly, “Downloads” actually means “phone storage”? Wouldn’t a renaming be worth considering?

    -> TV Guide:

    • when I add a recording, the recording symbol (one (single) or two red dots (series) doesn’t appear, the same when you zap through to other possible shows using the “Contributors” function. You don’t get any visual feedback (red dot) , what you have now programmed
    • When changing days of the week, the channels are sometimes displayed, but only 2×2 lines with gray stripes appear for the programs. After scrolling down/out, the time and text of the programs appear.

So, that would be my first feedback on the very successful update from TV Air 2 to TV Air 3…

P.S. Devices: Samsung S9+ (Pie), Tab Pro 10.5 and 8.0 (both Marshmallow)

    Show original language (German)

Unfortunately I was also forced to make this update. My Samsung Tab Android 4.4.2 cannot install the new version app. The message says: “The device is not compatible with this version, the app may not be optimized for your device”. Before the update everything worked perfectly!!!
Could you give me some advice on what to do?
    Best thanks and greetings
    Simone
