Watch TV via WiFi in rooms further away

    Already using Swisscom TV (via cable) in two rooms. I would now like to connect a television in another room (on another floor). I already have a TV-Box Swisscom TV 2.0 and a universal connection kit DUO from AirTies (both used). I will soon register the third device with Swisscom for use (via Kundencenter). Do I need anything else besides the devices mentioned so that the third television can be used?

    • Nope, it should work like that. A “stable” WiFi connection is required…

      It’s important to subscribe to the 3rd stream.

      Of course, your internet performance should have enough power for 3 HD streams. Roughly speaking, you’ll have at least 30 Mbit/s - and there’s still a little bit left for surfing.

    Trying is more important than studying. I also previously connected 4 boxes via connection kits. It also worked with the device in the basement, and this is even further away from the router.

    Now I have removed all the connection kits and connected them all via WiFi to the IB2 and the new WiFi box, which I also set up centrally in the house. (I couldn’t change the disadvantageous IB2 location). I’ve now had the whole thing in operation for over a month and everything is working fine without any problems with live TV, replay and recordings. The UHD channels also run as stable as if they were connected to the LAN cable.

    The separate connection kits were originally introduced to compensate for the lack of 5GHz WLAN in the old Centro Grandes.

    Since the introduction of the IB2 (which has a good 5GHz WLAN) and now with the WLAN boxes as satellites, they are actually superfluous in most cases, so they are a thing of the past (although there is still a fan club and that Swisscom still likes to sell them).

    If you already have a connection kit and are happy with it, you can of course continue to use it, but I would never buy a new one under any circumstances.

    If the normal WLAN really isn’t enough anymore, you can have an electrician lay a LAN cable for the same price, which really is a top solution.
