Very high ping

Good morning,

For several days I have been experiencing a very high latency problem (Ping value greater than 600 on the Swisscom speedtest)

configuration: inOne internet M with Internet Booster, previously I had a very low ping (<20 and a DL speed reaching 70-80M) so everything was fine, but currently I am forced to use my Natel for the internet at the house…

Swisscom TV works almost normally, fortunately….

I tried rebooting the router, the internet booster, resetting the router and internet booster to the original configuration but nothing worked. Disconnecting the booster, same problem.

However, it happens that for a few tens of seconds, the Ping values return to normal, but this does not last…

Is anyone experiencing the same problem?

Thank you in advance for your help/opinion

Hello @Oguex and @Lordkallad

Ping depends on several factors such as bandwidth or the number of connected devices.

The ideal remains to be connected via Ethernet. If resetting your router and restarting any connection kits does not bring any improvement and if you have no choice but to be connected via WiFi, try: improving the signal by downloading My Swisscom Assistant, bring together your computer’s router, disconnect all other devices from Wi-Fi, turn off the television, deactivate the antivirus, etc.

You can also contact our technical support who can help you optimize your wireless connection and analyze your line if necessary.

Good luck!

Good morning,

To differentiate between WiFi problems and line problems, simply measure with the router’s speedtest. The router is directly on the internet connection.

If the ping problem is also visible with the router measurements it is possible to collect more information using the command on the PC

tracert speedtest.cnlab.ch

This will perhaps make it possible to see when the délai increases and will in any case be useful information if support needs to be involved.

@Oguex

Test a live Linux distribution without disrupting your system and run network diagnostics

if the ping and traceroute are good, it’s clearly a problem with the other system. (home side)

if the ping and traceroute are bad, this is clearly a problem on the Swisscom side (provided the diagnosis is also bad with the speedtest integrated into the Swisscom router)

For my part, my internet connection is excellent 🙂
