How to activate the phone line or port( place inside the house)

Hi,

I am new to Swiss and I have recently bought a new internet connection from Swisscom. I tried connecting my router to the landline port inside my apartment, it seems to be landline port in my apartment is not activated or working. I guess, I have to enable it from the main line(which is somewhere kept in the basement of the building) so that the landline port is activated and I dont know where is the mainline in my buidling.

I dont know French and my conceirge does not understand English.So I am having difficulty in asking her 😞

I have checked with the previous tenant if he knew it was working previously or not, but no luch as he never used landline phone line or swisscom connection (he was using SiL).

My questions are:

1. Is this something Swisscom engineer has to enable from the basement? or I have to hire local electrician?

2. How much would it cost for local electrician to enable?

any suggestions on this would be very helpful, thanks in advance.

Swisscom need to activate your line. And AFAIK you should receive Information about that.
