In order to make the connection between Swisscom’s mail servers and the mail servers of other providers as secure as possible, Swisscom supports the StartTLS procedure. If this protocol is also supported by the counterparty (e.g. Hotmail or Gmail), the connection between the mail servers is encrypted.

I work in quality assurance at a software company.
All error sources “on my part” were checked several times, including restarts and uninstalling anti-virus software.
The fact that there are always error messages on the outgoing mail server is not the fault of the device - I have now tried to set up bluewin-mail via pop3 on three devices (with different Internet connections) and there are always errors from or regarding. the outgoing mail server… I’ve had enough, I’m changing the mail provider - ALL of the competition (I’ve tried 14 mail providers) is running smoothly, only the bluewin outgoing mail server is going crazy.

I stumbled upon the same error during installation.
I also tried several OS and Outlook versions, different platforms, etc.
The solution is so simple you want to scream:
The email password that must be entered when installing the POP [or IMAP] account is NOT the Swisscom login password!
Once you have created a different password in Kundencenter, you can also create the POP account in Outlook.
Have fun tinkering.
PS: The “MySwisscomAssistant” brought me to this point by explicitly writing this.

I have no idea what kind of instructions you read, but the instructions I found on the Swisscom website explicitly say:
“Enter your password in the marked field. Note: The email password does not correspond to your Swisscom login password. [In Kundencenter](https://www1.swisscom.ch/sam/online/app/Password ?mode=mail_change&lang=de) you can create a new email password.”

I’m totally still on the line here. I changed the password in Kundencenter and wanted to log in, but I still get the error message “Pop access denied for the specified user name or password.”.
What do you mean “create a different password in Kundencenter”?

It is important to understand that the “Swisscom Login” (the password that is entered to access Kundencenter or webmail) is not the same as the password that is used to access the emails with an external program (Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail,…).
This second password (email password) can be set in Kundencenter under “Email” -> “Change password”.
If this was not the question or does not solve the problem, please provide more details about the problem.

For my email account on Bluewin I use a password which is also the SwisscomLogin password (I assume)

My question: what is meant by the second password? When I go to Kundencenter, I only change my SwisscomLogin password.
If you change your password there in Kundencenter like in the picture below, then it is not the WEB-Mail and Kundencenter password, but the email program password!
N.b. When you open Bluewin WEB-Mail directly, no Pop or SMTP messages are displayed!
