Internet Box Family - R8.5 Beta Firmware

  • Hello everyone,

A new beta is available for testing at the following link:

    [https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/internet/firmware-aktualisierungen-fuer-ihre-internet-box/beta-version.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/ private customers/help/internet/firmware-updates-for-your-internet-box/beta-version.html)

This is an early beta that does not yet correspond to the complete release R8.5. More functions will be added. However, our tests so far show relatively stable behavior.

Please provide feedback here in this thread AND with the [error link](http://internet-box.kontakt-formular-ibp-ibs-ib2-fw-08-05-06.sgizmo.com /s3/) report:

The new version includes the following improvements:

    • Various WLAN improvements
    • Display WLAN signal strength per device on overview and device list
    • Password strength indicator when changing/creating passwords in the WebUI
    • Improvement in the calculation accuracy of the child protection time limit (2min)
    • IB app telephony via VPN works again
    • General stability improvements

    Known limitations:

    • IB2: There may be problems with TV over WiFi
    • WLAN / LAN speed test in the WebUI shows values that are too low
    • New diagnostics for analog telephones are only implemented graphically in the WebUI
    • Translations in WebUI not final (marked with [K])

    Have fun testing!

    Greeting,

    MichelB

I already installed this beta (05/08/06) on the IB2 last month.

So far it’s running pretty well and stable, apart from occasional and indefinable restarts of the router.

    Whatever…

    indefinable restarts of the router

Have you done a factory reset?

    It’s probably the wrong file

    Filename

    ib2_beta_08-01-06

    same

    Installed firmware version: 08.01.06/08.01.00/01110

could you change the link to the correct file

    Thank you

    It’s already explained above.

    @MichelB

Is this the second blackbuild of FW 08.05.xx?

Yes, this is the second Blackbuild. We have never published such an early version before. Not all functions are included or completed yet. But there’s a lot in it too. 🙂

Hi @Anonym and @MichelB, I downloaded the new file for IB2 8.5, and the file size is about 15.6 Mb when 8.1 was about 74.2 Mb. Could you please check internally what going on. The File do not do any upgrade, when if this pass the CRC and try to upload. Thanks Giuseppe

@“x”#345034Is the problem with the TV a new addition with the 8.5 FW, or was it already present with the 8.1?

    Hi @MichelB,

    Thanks!

    IB2 Updated, modem works well.

One question is: have you fixed the line value that were calculed?

    Thanks

    Giuseppe

    @MichelB

Thank you very much, it worked on the third attempt

Small error in network and device list

Some devices have to be restarted first so that they are no longer gray, but IP is obtained

After restarting the Devise it works.

    Same with the device list.

New registered devices are not displayed even after the browser is updated.

After logging in again it works.

    WiFi

Super password strength is now also available

WLAN connect is now faster and connects at 5 GHz even with poor signal strength

The following settings would be desirable.

    2.4GHz

    Instead of Automatic (802.11b/g/n)

    should

    802.11n only is missing

    802.11 g/n mixed is missing

As well as purely 40 MHz is missing

    5GHZ

    Instead of Automatic (802.11a/n/ac)

Which unfortunately also automatically means channel width

Auto, 20, 40 and 80 MHz should be selectable

    802.11n/ac is missing

    802.11ac only is missing

    DECT diagnosis

K-Check doesn’t work error (K] An internal error has occurred. Please try again later.

    LAN diagnosis

    Has waitstats

Factory reset was done. Everyone should do it

    @“x”#11215

I think calculation for the line and Network is the wrong way

For correct usage you must have a probe

It is implemented correctly; it does not need much CPU

Registering with the VoIP provider sipgate.de using a softphone in the WLAN (here: csipsimple on Android 7, Sony Xperia XZ [Swisscom]) fails. (Registration = registration with the SIP server for telephony purposes)

This is a regression (possibly also one of the current release version, grrrr).

With exactly the same configuration, it works after switching off WiFi via 4G+ (Swisscom).

    @daffy2

Has port forwarding for SIP already been done?

    This would be port

    · 3478 (UDP)

    · 5060 (UDP)

    · 7078 (UDP)

    · 7079 (UDP)

What version of Android is on it?

Anyconnect only works with the beta version of Android 7 +-

It would be nice if someone also communicated the OS release and app version in the future.

    Show original language (German)

On the subject of port forwarding: The router can solve this itself as in the past, as long as UDP is used (sipgate.de at least does payload transport via TCP/IP)

On the topic of “version and whatever” I would simply like to refer to my initial post, here just formatted more nicely:
    * csipsimple (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.csipsimple )
    *Android 7
    * Sony Xperia XZ [Swisscom]

I just tried out a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge plus [Swisscom] - the one with Android 6 (and of course with csipsimple) - and it works in exactly the same environment.

Once again a reminder that 4G+ (data via LTE) is also possible with the Sony. And on the mobile network 10.133.13.199 also looks quite NAT’ed (at this moment).

By the way, my Internet Box Plus is something like a “reset to default” - it only has the SSIDs and the WPA2 passwords from me.

I don’t know what you want to achieve with Anyconnect - I don’t want to use a VPN (whether SSL or IPSec based), I just use an (ok, the best) Android SIP softphone in my local WLAN.

I hope the magical word “regression” finds the right ears.
