From MicroSIM to NanoSIM? New costs as an old customer?

  • Hello everyone

I recently replaced my cell phone with a newer one. But for the new one I needed a NanoSIM card. Is it normal that Swisscom has now charged me for this? I am already a Swisscom customer and also received the MicroSIM from Swisscom.

I would be happy for a quick answer

    • It would be interesting to know where you got the new SIM card from.

I know it like this at Swisscom:

      - If I order a new SIM online in Kundencenter it costs 40.- (of course I never used it)

      - However, if I order a SIM card online for mobile ID then it is free.

      - If I change the SIM in the shop because the old one is too big, then the SIM is exchanged for free (I only experienced it again last Wednesday. Statement from the shop employee that yes, it is free)

Basically, the SIM card costs 40. If you change a card in the Swisscom shop, it is usually free. I’ve done this with several people and no one has ever paid for the new SIM in the shop.

I’ve already tailored a few SIMs to Micro/Nano myself, and they always worked without any problems. Uncle Google finds stencils as PDF…

    ….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

So…thank you very much for your answers.

Unfortunately I still have to pay for the SIM. Calling Swisscom didn’t help. I was bandaged three times without success. I was friendly too. I simply made it clear to them that I was confused because some had to pay and others obviously didn’t. Their argument was that some people didn’t have to pay out of goodwill or because the old card was a bit older.

I would be very interested to know why goodwill is not being applied to me.

The story leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I now pay the 40 francs. But for God’s sake I can’t understand why there’s apparently no uniform rule in place here.

I pay 99 francs for a year for a mobile phone subscription only, and then I have to spend another 40 francs just because I have a new mobile phone (the old Galaxy S5 broke, also from Swisscom, by the way) so that I can have a SIM card my cell phone fits. I extended my subscription 3 days ago.

To be honest, I feel pretty ripped off right now, especially since, after asking, no one in my family had to pay for the new card.

That was definitely my last subscription with Swisscom. I’m disappointed.

    Greetings Sam

Or with a little “crafting skills” you can cut them yourself. But with an existing SIM card, this may not really make sense if it is older.

Another “trick” to get a new SIM for free is the mobile id, as long as the old one is not designed for it is. But of course it doesn’t help if you’ve already been sold a new SIM…

Maybe @Anonymous can take a look at this and do something goodwill?

Hello, I answer with a question? After I found out whether I had to pay for a nano SIM card, I was able to get it for free at Swissschop in exchange for an ID. After installation, I could see that everything was correct and that the prepaid savings amount was also transferred correctly. Then I suddenly received a text message from Swisscom saying I should go for a specific reason

    turn the new smartphone off/on.

However, I was quite surprised that I suddenly couldn’t make phone calls anymore. My +20.- had become -20.-. After calling Swisscom I was told => with prepaid you would have to pay for the SIM card!! Did I get ripped off or was the lady in the shop “too nice?” Greetings and thanks for the feedback

Hello @magam, the SIM card is given/exchanged free of charge. To activate the SIM, 40 francs will be charged for IT and process costs. With a subscription via the bill for prepaid directly via your credit. I regret if you were not informed about this. Greetings, Raphael

Hello Raphael, I’m sorry but I don’t understand the activation!! (After installation on my part) I was able to have all the data and carry out a call test! what else is there to activate => I wasn’t a new customer and the old SIM number was stored invalidly on my account in the store. But since I had access to all the data with the new one, it was activated when I purchased it, wasn’t it? Greetings Martin
