Internet-Box 2

Hello everyone

At the end of the year we will add our new router, the Internet-Box 2, to our portfolio. The development started in autumn 2015 and for several months we have been testing new hardware and software versions together with some of the most active users of this forum. We have now started a broader Swisscom internal field test. And we have decided to give 50 customers the opportunity to test our new router soon - around August. So that everyone has a chance to register, I will not publish the registration link here until Sunday at 8 p.m. First come, first serve.

If you are among the first 50, you will soon receive an invitation email with further information. For example, we expect that you give us feedback and that we are allowed to access your box for error analysis. Of course, private data is not viewed.

Important information: the router was deliberately built so that it does not fit into a multimedia cabinet. We have placed a lot of emphasis on optimizing WLAN and DECT, so it doesn’t fit if the router disappears into a metal box. When the router is launched at the end of 2016, we will have offers to adapt the house cabling to suit the future. More on that later. Otherwise, your trusted electrician will be able to help you.

@Anonymous finally a device ALLINONE from the access connections. I’m curious about the performance of the IB2 on an emulated ADSL port from an ISAM machine.

@gur_helios The antennas are always separated. The IBP and IBS had 3 antennas for 5 GHz and 2 antennas for 2.4 GHz. Now it’s 4 and 3.

The hardware is manufactured by Askey according to our specifications. Siligence is a subsidiary of Askey in Europe, but is not involved this time. The IBP is also de facto manufactured by Askey. The IBS hardware, on the other hand, was produced by Arcadayn. As with all other Internet boxes, the software is programmed by our partners Soft@Home and Vestiacom. This also happens in close coordination with us and according to our wishes.

@Anonymous, I didn’t get any further with the question about the organizational abbreviation. So I used the example shortcut given. Is that OK? Not everyone works at Swisscom & Co… 😉
