Minimal stuttering UHD box

Hello Swisscom community,

I would be interested to know whether other users of the new UHD box have also noticed that there can always be a very brief jerking. I have fiber optic 1 GB with almost full performance, connection to LAN, so that definitely can’t be the problem. My experience also matches that of triplejoe in another thread:

"The image quality, especially the HD resolution, is top. I just get a hang-up every now and then. It’s a very short jerk in the image (a fraction of a second), as if the image is trying to catch up with the sound. That’s how it happens Approximately once every minute and is of course only noticeable in pictures with movement.

I have about the same amount of freezes with mosaic formation as with the old 2.0 box. I’ve gotten used to them now… Strangely enough, the short hangers bother me a lot more…"

I can’t confirm that it happens every minute, but you can see it especially in strongly moving images such as camera pans etc. (Maybe triplejoe is just more attentive than me.)

So who else has noticed this? What could be the reason? Could there be something wrong with the UHD box in terms of hardware, or do you have to wait for a new software update?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Good evening.

I had this all day Saturday.

all 19-20 seconds.

Then on Sunday I noticed that I only had 32 MBit bandwidth.

Then after many discussions in the forum I suddenly had 65 MBit again, and when the TV boxes are in operation it is 55 MBit

But this evening my wife told me that when I listened to the radio, the jerking was back, even though the performance remained the same.

But now I have reset the box again, with success so far.

Only if it stays that way and you have to reset every day will I consider attaching the old HD box again.

How are things with you now? Better? Or is it still jerking

I see it directly on the router

Or in the router menu, simply enter 192.168.1.1 at the top of the browser and log in

You can see under / Router / Diagnosis how much would be possible on your line

I would also like to comment on this topic.

We have the new UHD box and Vivo M subscription, everything already with the new fiber optic box including cabling.

Swisscom “gave” us faster internet for a few months.

There are still stutters and audio dropouts when I watch recordings. Every few minutes there’s a second jerk, both picture and sound.

I don’t have that in the Live Stream, everything is normal.

I’ve already checked everything: cabling, reset, box turned off completely, etc. It’s all original Swisscom accessories (HDMI cable, etc.)

The self-test and speed test also say that everything is in the green.

At first it was only SF1 station…after a few days, other stations were suddenly also affected.

What could be technically different that makes a replay/recording jerky and a live stream not? Do both come directly from the Swisscom servers via the Internet?

I reported the problem to Swisscom and they want to send a technician over… I already know that he wouldn’t find anything…:smileysad:

Greeting,

Felix

At this point, the same questions as always:

-How is the TV-Box connected to the router? (LAN cable, connection kit, anything else)

-Is there something else in between? (Switch, Booster, AP, anything else) If yes, brand/model name

….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Yes, everything is connected with a LAN cable (Swisscom cable), everything is as described in the instructions and everything is original Swisscom stuff. No third-party devices in between, routers from Swisscom.

I just don’t understand that things were going well before and these stutters are now gradually occurring and more and more channels are affected… only replay, live stream is OK.

I have an internet speed of around 50 Mpbs…

and by the way, thank you for the quick answer: smileyhappy:

@skullking

I would reset the TV-Box so that the current OS is installed cleanly.

Not a software reset but with a bent paper clip at the bottom of the box.

Then restart everything (router and TV-Box one after the other).

With the current promo about fiber for Vivo M and L it should actually be over 900Mbps…
