In some cases, the following helps: the multitasking bar (press the home button twice) and close apps that are still visible in the background. Then restart the app. Under certain circumstances, restart the device once. If all else fails, uninstall the app and reinstall it via the App Store.

Does the app not start at all, or are you simply unable to use it?

Under “Settings” - “Account” - “Payment Info” you can see whether your account is still valid or has expired.
