Bluewin SMTPauth and OS X Yosemite

After installing Mac OS I get the following error message: The SMTP connection to the server “smtpauths.bluewin.ch” failed. Select a different outgoing email server from the list below, or click Try Later to leave the email in your outbox until it can be sent. Sending from: My name <*************@bluewin.ch> I tried both the automatic setup and manually. Before installing Yosemite it worked fine.

Hello

Had the same problem!

Solution: You just have to set “Settings” - “Accounts” - “Account information” - “SMTP server” to “Swisscom Bluewin (offline)”.

Best regards

Can you say that in more detail? Please.

Account information:

- Description: Swisscom Bluewin
- Server name: smtpauth.bluewin.ch?

- TLS certificate: without

Advanced:

- Automatically detect and apply account settings?

- Port 587 (do not use SSL)
- Authentication:
- Username: (same as imap.bluewin.ch)

Thank you very much for your help.

The way it is set up in my post number 2 in the pictures, it works for all iMacs and Macbooks in my family.

So I have now deleted and reinstalled my email accounts on the iMac, it looks a little different and works.

Set up via the iMac, add email account, important to enter the correct email password.

You have set up a POP account and not an IMAP account!!

Set up the email account with the Apple Email Account Add new and you will find the correct password in your Kundencenter, it is not the same as the Swisscom Kundencenter password.

A few years ago I came across that the setup only works if the password for the email account and the password for the Swisscom login are NOT the same.

I also have the problem that, despite trying all the settings (setup wizard and manually), sending emails no longer works. Can you please post a screenshot of the SMTP server settings?

Receiving still works with the original settings.

How should the server, which is now apparently called “Swisscom Bluewin”, be set up? On the iPhone, for example, or on OS X Maverick, the server is still called “smtpauth.bluewin.ch”.

Thank you for the valuable contribution!

Finally someone could help me.

Here are the settings that ultimately helped me.

Set your outgoing server as follows:

  1. smtpauths.bluewin.ch

Port automatically

authentication; MD5 Challenge Response

Use SSL

The only thing missing for me was the checkbox “Use SSL”.

Hopefully this helps you too.

Where can I find the settings for the outgoing server? I only found the server for receiving emails.

Kind regards

I can no longer send emails since the update to Yosemite. Since I’m usually more at home in the Windows world, I almost despair. Almost all of the tips listed here have not had the desired effect for me. I’m (still) afraid of the option “delete all accounts” according to tip no. 10, because a window tells me that “the mailboxes and all e-mails will be permanently deleted from your computer”. It’s a POP account and I don’t want to lose my emails.

What else can I do?
