I forwarded some UDP ports on my router, but all port checkers tools online say that the port is closed. I ran Wireshark and it looks like the server (sitting in my home) is sending packets, but the client (my PC) doesn't receive anything. I haven't been able to forward UDP ports for months. TCP work flawlessly. I've tried setting the Firewall to Off.

@"Nauneuquech21"#p866704 Gemeint war die IP-Adresse des WAN-Interfaces deiner Internetbox, wegen des IPv4-Adressmangels werden manchmal private IP-Adressen vergeben, die dann per CGNAT auf eine öffentliche IP gemappt werden. Das dürfte bei dir aber nicht der Fall sein, denn bei CGNAT-Adressen wäre die Konfiguration von Portforwardings im GUI der Internetbox gar nicht möglich. Es ist recht schwierig ein Problem wie deines via Forenthread zu debuggen. Einen Bug in der Internetbox-Firmware halte ich für unwahrscheinlich. Sollte sich dieser Verdacht tatsächlich erhärten, müsste man ihn zuerst einmal Schritt für Schritt dokumentieren, inkl. aller IP-Adressen, verwendeter dynamischer Hostnamen etc. und das am besten noch per Vieraugenprinzip verifizieren. Diese Infos gehören natürlich (in deinem Interesse) nicht in ein öffentliches Forum. Offiziell führt der Weg über die Hotline 0800800800, versuche dich vom First- an den Secondlevel und schliesslich Thirdlevel-Support durchzuhangeln. Oder wenn du möchtest schreib mir eine PN, vielleicht finden wir zusammen noch etwas raus.

@"Nauneuquech21"#p866450 Habs soeben bei mir getestet, hier funktioniert das UDP-Packetforwarding einwandfrei (getestet mit Port 53). Welche Firewall hast du versucht auf Aus zu stellen? Die auf der Internetbox (keine gute Idee) oder die auf deinem PC? Hast du auf der Internetbox eventuell die DMZ-Funktion aktiviert? Da du auch mit Wireshark keinen Traffic siehst, wäre ein Config-Reset der Internetbox auch mein nächster Guess. Wenngleich das im Prinzip keinen Unterschied machen dürfte. Nach dem Reset solltest du erst das Portforwarding ausgehend von der Defaultkonfiguration testen, bevor du das Backup zurückspielst.

@"PowerMac"#p866456 I tried turning off the firewall on my router, but I instantly turned it on again. It was just to try to pinpoint the issue. I haven't tried to factory reset the router, but I know that I'm not the only one who got that issue, as a friend of mine does too. I don't know if there are more information I can give that could help troubleshoot.

@"Nauneuquech21"#p866459 was hindert dich daran, den Router auf die Werkseinstellungen zurückzusetzen? Geht schnell und entschlackt! Wichtig, ein zuvor gemachtes Backup nicht zurückspielen, bevor du ausprobiert hast, ob die Portweiterleitung nun geht.

Um welche UDP-Ports geht es, welche Applikation nutzt die Ports, was genau hast du mit Wireshark getestet, welche interne IP hat dein Zielsystem und wie bekommt es seine IP-Adresse (DHCP oder fix konfiguriert) und stimmt diese IP auch wirklich mit dem auf der IB konfigurierten Portforwarding überein usw.

@"PowerMac"#p866658 I've tried with several UDP ports (`9600`, `9987`, `8081` and `24454`) that are used by different software. With Wireshark, I looked for packets that were sent and received on the corresponding UDP port. My server has IP address `192.168.1.113` which was automatically set to *statically assigned* due to the port forwarding in place. Yes, the port forwarding is correctly set up for the server.

@"Lori-77"#p866702 Sorry, I mentioned the LAN address in my previous comment. When I connect to my server using its LAN address (`192.168.1.113`) the communication works correctly. However, when connecting from the Internet - whether I'm using the public IP address or a domain name, the connection doesn't work (i.e. port forwarding doesn't work). I have enabled DynDNS but I don't use it directly to connect as I have rented a domain name from another provider. The config for the other provider is basically `CNAME`s.

@"PowerMac"#p866706 I'm not knowledgeable about CGNAT but my public IP address starts with `92.106…`. Could you send me a private message with the information that you would need, please? I once contacted the hotline because my server wasn't getting an IPV4 address and the employee told me that for a problem like this it requires a technician and that I would need to pay for it. I solved it months later after discovering it was a bug in the networking stack of my Linux distro.

Lori-77 I understand. I don’t want to buy a new router if I’m not absolutely certain that it’s going to fix the problem. And even then, if I had to buy a router I’d choose a non-Swisscom one.

For all I know, the problem could be upstream as even friends—which are not on the same LAN—could reproduce my issues (i.e. defective UDP).
