Fiber Optic Network Expansion

Good afternoon,

I was reporting a move in Swisscom to my new address. Currently I have the highest 10Gig Internet connection at home and at the new address they don't even offer the blue Internet S connection. Only a "theoretical" maximum of 65MBs internet connection.

I called Swisscom cancellation and they told me I cannot cancel my contract early. How is that fair? It is Swisscom who cannot provide the service I'm paying for. Therefore, the contract breach is being done by Swisscom, not me. My contract is for a 10Gig connection and Swisscom cannot even offer 1% of that.

They said they cannot provide either an expected time frame on when the connection might be possible.

So they neither help or solve the situation.. So? Anyone had a similar issue?

These are the contractual terms. It's unrealistic to expect universal coverage with the highest speed, even though it's going in that direction.

Maybe you can partially compensate the degraded performance using a 5G booster. Check with the customer service.

Requirements & change to 10 Gbit/s

New FTTH technology permits speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. To date, Swisscom has connected 5.26 million homes and offices throughout Switzerland. Just under 30% of these have been upgraded to FTTH.
Requirements for 10 Gbit/s:

FTTH must be available in your area.
You must have an blue Internet L / inOne SME Business Internet L subscription.
You must use an Internet-Box 3 or Internet-Box 4.
The fibre optic module is connected to Internet-Box 3.

Would you like to switch to speeds of 10 Gbit/s? Check in the availability checker whether your location is developed for this speed and can provide enough power for your connection.

This is the normal process to follow in order to start a Swisscom service plan. In this case its not working because Swisscom is not following the fiber optic installation standards, therefore they have a big lawsuit in their hands and eveyrone of us affected can´t rely neither in Swisscom service or any other provider, since they didn't properly install the fiber optic network.

Now for all of us, the maximun speed that is available at the new address is less than the S plan, 65Mbits. And because of Swisscom lawsuit, eveyrthing is blocked.

Hopefully some solution can be found to move forward and not to penalise the regions that are not optimally served. If you depend on fast internet, you need to check the availability before moving.

In the meantime, check if the Internet Booster can be a solution, at least temporarily. Conditions are quite generous.
