Swisscom TV 2.0 Problems

Since I moved to Swisscom TV 2.0 in pril I have had problems....firstly the box would randomly turn off and would not restart until rebooted. More lately the picture starts freezing and I have to change channel and then back again for it to restart

I never had any problems with the Swisscom TV I have had previously for 4 years and wish I could go back to the old box....is this possible?

Very, very disappointed in the service and when I have rung up for technical assistnace the lack of interest and desire to help is noticeable (3 times...)

I have also just started using the new internet box and that is not working properly either....

How can we get this resolved as, at the moment, we rarely use the television as the service is so poor

First:
Did you do a hard reset of the box? If no: do it

Second:
Describe the exact connection of your setup. How is the box connected to the router etc.:.

Third: did you contact the hotline via tel? What did they do so help you?

I have reset the box a few times to try. Just to make sure I am doing a hard reset can you tell me what that entails

I am connected via powerline. There was no problem before for Swisscom Plus. I will try Ethernet as a test but this is not a long- term option. Perhaps wireless will be better but I loathe to spend another 200 on the boxes if this does not work either

The tech help has been just to say - reset everything and reconnect cables- done all that but not much other advice given.

The other thing is that when I do an online internet check using Swisscom they say there is a fault on my internet line. I haven't seen too many problems with internet though. I don't use micro filters anymore as I have IP phone now - would putting filters back help?

Reset (important, speaking of SC TV 2.0):

the box will be brought back to factory settings. OS / Updates will be reinstalled.

Since the recordings are in the cloud, you won't loose them

Powerline:

Did you change some plugs, longer cable, "Mehrfachstecker" --> don't know the name, means that you have a long cable and a lot of plugs on them 🙂

If yes: do try powerline with nothing else connected to the plug, no lamps, nothing!

Try Ethernet directly from the router (Internet Box) to the SC TV 2.0 Box

If the problems are solved, you known why 😉

Filter: that has nothing to do with IP or not. I guess you need them. You won't need them if you are on fibre.

I have the powerline on the plug socket directly but have a multiplug running from it. I will take off all except the tv and box. It may be over the edge

The swisscom tv 2 set up doesn't require microfilters as there are no phones connected anymore ( have IP with Vivo M) but will put them back on to test

I think I will try Ethernet first connection and then work backwards as you suggested

Just for info - how do you do the hard reset?

I will let you know if I find out the problem just in case someone else sees the same thing. My guess is the powerline but we will see!

Multiplug is always a source of problem with powerline

microfilters: i'm not sure, try it 🙂

ethernet: go for it and test that

hard reset: behind the box there is a small hole. Simply use something sharp and press it. The box will be reseted. You should do this while connected with Ethernet

Tested as follows:

Box reset: no change

Microfilters: no change

Changed powerline so no multiplugs: no change

Finally connected box directly to internet box and seemed to be far more stable

Looks like powerline is out for whatever reason and so I need to decide what to do:

i. Update powerline as they are 4 years old

ii. Wireless via the connection boxes (shame it isn't built into box...)

I prefer the second as it is likely to work - would you make that assumption as well? I have no problems with wireless as the box and router are on the same floow

I will order one and try it - if that doesn't work then it is Cablecom.....

You should only take a power line kit for swisscom tv and buy it FROM swisscom 😉

WLAN is built in but seems to be experimental. But that is going to be more advanced to get to work in most flats

I originally bought the powerline them from Swisscom but not convinced there will be any difference to be honest

The recommendation seems to be the wirless connection box and for the small difference in price that is the way I will go

I had heard there was an expeimental wireless capability in the box but not really that good with networking to activate it....I am happier with plug and play to be honest

Same to me. I agree.
You could try a power line or WLAN sctv connection kit. I'd that doesn't work, being it back before 14 days to swisscom. Money back garantie 🙂

Actually have just found how to connect via WLAN - it offers it as an option if you disconnect the ethernet (I was going to try another powerline unit I forgot I had). Much simpler than I thought

It seems okay at the moment - touch wood!

just keep in mind that this feature is not officialy released yet.

don't expect at this moment to have a stable setup.

Yes I understand but it has been more stable than the powerline at the moment so I am not going to complain about any issues with it. Do you know why it is still in beta an whether they are going to activate it officially ( or if?)

There are a few problems once the system is switched on but it stabilizes soon after

I will leave it a week or so and then look at what to do next.

Is there anyway to disable the box going onto standby?
