cnlab Internet Performance Test

I have a problem running the cnlab Internet Performance Test at http://hsi.bluewin.ch/speedtest/?language=en on my Intel-based MacPro 3.1. The computer is running the very latest MacOSX 10.8.4 with Java 7 Update 21, and Java and cookies are enabled in Safari, but when I try to run the test I get the message:

"It appears that Java is not working in your Browser. Please check on java.com, if Java is working on your system. You can also find information on how to install/update Java."

The Internet Performance Test works perfectly on a much older G5 Mac PowerPC 1.1 on the same local network, running MacOSX 10.4.11 with Java J2SE Runtime 5 Update 19.

I appreciate that this is a Mac/Java problem, but perhaps someone who has already encountered it can let me know the solution?

Had the same issue on my mac.

I had to download JRE from JAVA.com and install it.

Make sure to close safari before the installation.

Thanks, suisse, but as I mentioned I do have JRE 7u21 installed.

What version of MacOSX and Safari were you using?

I couldn't get the test to work with Safari 6.0.5 but I've found that it runs fine with Firefox 21.0

OK, I found the solution to this problem. Apparently in "Manage Website Settings" in the latest Safari security preferences, you have to explicitly specify the websites that are allowed to run Java applets. Adding hsi.bluewin.ch to the list of websites allows the cnlab Internet Performance Test to run fine.
