Using Swisscom WLAN Box 2 on WAN Port of 5G Router

I had to change my 4/5G Predator Router since it didn't work anymore. On this Router I used the Swisscom WLAN Box 2 as Back up Internet Access Point on the WAN Port.

I am using the WAN Port with the cable internet as back up in case 4/5G is down in our place is down (we do not have fiber here).

My new Router is a 4/5G DrayTek Vigor 2927 Lax-5G which has 2 WAN Ports and several LAN Ports. On one WAN Port I am using a Deko 5G Router as mobile Back Up Access Point and I would like to use the WLAN Box 2 as second (cable) Back Up Access Point to the internet (.

The WAN Port with the Deko Modem works flawlessly and the DrayTek recognizes the Deko Router without any problems.

The second WAN Port does not recognize the Swisscom WLAN Box 2 as Internet Source (eventhough there has been no changes since I used exactly this WLAN Box 2 on the predator Router, where it worked). Changing of the ports does not make any difference.

What settings need to be done on the DrayTek that it recognizes the WLAN Box 2 as Internet Source? The DrayTek offers the following Settings for WAN: PPPoE, static or dynamic IP, PPTP/L2TP or IPv6.

I am no pro, so i actually hoped it works like before, plug and play , but this does not seem to be the way with the WLAN Box 2 on this new Router…

ich frage mich, wie die WLAN-Box 2 als Internetquelle funktionieren kann ?
Die WLAN-Box 2 ist doch keine Internetquelle, das ist doch ein reiner WLAN-Access-Point oder ein WLAN-Repeater !

Oder Meinst du eine Internetbox 2 ?

POGO 1104 sure you're right; i have an Internetbox 2 making the connection to the swisscom wire. But the Internetbox is in a different room than my office, so I can only connect to it via the WLAN Box2, this is what I wanted to say. So it actually is DrayTek (WAN Port 2) -> WLAN Box 2 -> Internetbox 2.

Nontheless, the question stays the same; how do i need to set the DrayTek WAN Port to recognize the WLAN Box2 as -lets say- connection the the Internetbox 2

It somehow seems that the DrayTek does not recognize the WLAN Box 2. The WLAN Box 2 itself works to access the network of the Internetbox when I directly connect a laptop to its RJ45 ports. I can not explaine it more clear, it seems that the DrayTek needs to be set correctly to recognize the WLAN Box. These settings are my question

Kannst du mal testhalber versuchen, mit einem langen LAN-Kabel den Draytek mit der Internetbox 2 zu verbinden ?

Wie hast du den WAN-Port vom Draytek konfiguriert? DHCP oder fix IP oder sonstwie? Zeig mal einen Screenshot davon

Die Bastelei mit der WLAN-Box via LAN-Kabel an der WAN-Schnittstelle des Vigor wird schon funktionieren, aber Du musst am Vigor dafür sorgen, dass sich der IP-Bereich des Vigor-Netzes nicht mit dem IP-Bereich des Swisscom-Netzes überschneidet.

Falls Du also die Internetbox auf der Default-IP 192.168.1.1 hast, muss Du den Vigor z.B. auf das Netz 192.168.13.1 (die 2.hinterste Stelle also anders als im Swisscom-Netz) konfigurieren und auf seiner WAN-Schnittstelle musst Du Bezug der IP-Adresse via DHCP einstellen.
Damit wird dann der Vigor kaskadiert hinter der Internetbox ebenfalls Bestandteil des Swisscom-IP-Netzes 192.168.1.0/24, spannt dann aber selber gleichzeitig auch sein eigenes Netz 192.168.13.0/24 auf, an welchem dann alle Geräte hängen, welche via LAN oder WLAN am Vigor angeschlossen sind.

POGO 1104 this is not possible, it would mean to make a connection of 20+ meters which i can not establish since i do not habe the cables needed. at the moment, the DrayTek made the settings to the WLAN Box itself, it is static or fixed ip, activated, request ip automatically , standard MAc Adress

Werner hallo Werner, was kann passieren, wenn ich das mache; diese Anpassung muss ich manuell vornehmen, ich habe etwas angst, dass danach nichts mehr funktioniert… worauf hat das im anschluss einfluss

Ponnechau49 ich nehme an, dass ich dann auch über die neue IP auf den router einwählen muss, wenn ich auf dessen portal will.

Also wäre eine neue IP z.B. 192.168.13.1 für LAN1, und 192.168.16.1 für LAN4 bzw. 192.168.20.1 für LAN8? nur damit ich sicher bin…

Was geschieht mit bereits angehängter Hardware (NAS, WD MyCloud, Laptop), beziehen diese einfach die ip neu?

Also um mal kurz ehrlich zu sein:
Mit Null Ahnung von Netzwerken ist der Vigor für Dich eigentlich ein völlig ungeeigneter Router.

Deshalb würde ich nun doch eher den anderen Weg gehen, nämlich nicht den Vigor umkonfigurieren, sondern da wo es einfacher geht, nämlich direkt auf der Internetbox selbst.

Also neue Empfehlung:
Um den Konflikt der zwei konkurrierenden Netze aufzulösen, verändere nicht die Vigor-Konfiguration, sondern die IP-Adresse der Swisscom Internetbox von 192.168.1.1 auf 192.168.13.1 und starte anschliessend beide Router und auch alle Geräte, welche direkt an der Internetbox hängen neu.
Eigentlich sollte es nach Auflösung der IP-Netzüberschneidung anschliessend direkt funktionieren.

Ponnechau49 it worked flawlessly. thanks a lot. the reason to buy the vigor was simple; external antennas (required in our location since 5G in the house is weak), at least 1 WAN port, more than 3 LAN Ports, 4 and 5G… there are not that many routers available covering this at the time, in the past, several LAN ports were standard.
