Calls with a strange 058 number

  • My business line was called several times yesterday by a strange number.

    0580000050

    Nobody answered each time.

Does this number come from Swisscom?

Thanks for the reply. I already know 058, but I can’t really imagine so many 0000 (zeros) ahead.

Who could you ask for information? The 058 should be registered somewhere.

I’m really afraid that we might be hacked and that (Swisscom/router) passwords might be stolen

I thought Swisscom was looking into the community here from time to time.

These are numbers assigned by various providers for business or company numbers. In the past, they were used to identify Teams Telephony. Today they are no longer necessary.

058 is often used because they are not assigned to a regoin.

But either the number is fake or it belongs to a call centre.
My guess is that it is a “premium number”, which costs a lot extra.

Please don’t worry unnecessarily. Just ignore this call. You have nothing to fear that you have been hacked or something similar. It is also advisable not to call other people’s numbers if you are not expecting a call from anyone. There are also many numbers that are fake, there is a bad call centre behind them somewhere. These calls come from the Internet and these people are almost always based somewhere abroad. It is then extremely difficult or virtually impossible to find out who exactly is behind the call. A lot of people receive calls like this from time to time, and you are by no means the only one. I simply cannot emphasise enough… Please do not call back such strange numbers.

        ppc_world take a look here : https://www.telguarder.com/ch/nummer/0580000050

Is some spammer number just ignore it.

You cannot be hacked by a call that you ignore. Swisscom won’t do anything about it either. Unless you have specific reasons and apply for an interception, which will of course cost you hundreds of francs.

Yesterday I also had a call with 058, I added it to the spam list in my mobile phone, then I have peace of mind, if you ignore the combox you are out of luck, it’s that simple.

Interesting, I got to know 058s back then (only about 5 years ago) as business numbers, whereby everyone in our team/Skype (I was last employed by a federal department) was given an 058 number. The number pad also made it easy to identify the numbers. According to Swisscom, this still seems to be the case, but with spoofing you can fake anything. 😆
