Replay recording problems

Replay recordings start in the middle of the film instead of at the beginning and sometimes end before the end and then jump to the next film. In other words, since the last software changeover at Swisscom, it’s been a total mess. Especially since I installed the new TV Box 5 with Android Sch…… on it. I thought it would be better with the Apple TV box and bought and installed that too. But the same chaos prevails here, which suggests that it’s basically down to Swisscom. They don’t seem to be able to offer a usable TV anymore, which is probably related to their advertising ban, which they can no longer get under control. Do you have the same problems?

Hi @pe

Which film is it exactly? (name, channel, date, time)

Incidentally, Android has always been running on the TV boxes, only the version has been updated. You even found out yourself that this is not the reason - no bit of Android runs on the Apple TV box.

With linear TV, there can always be delays/inaccurate programme adjustments, which is why the exact start of the programme is determined automatically. This can lead to errors - if you let us know exactly which film it is, we can report it to Swisscom.

r00t It doesn’t just happen with one film, but with many. Today, for example, on SAT1 Gold at 5.30 in the replay. The film started in the middle instead of at the beginning and when you tried to rewind, the web block came up and it was impossible to get to the beginning. This happens in various channels and films. Sometimes it works properly. However, it is usually delayed and recently, the recording jumps to the next one before the end of the film. If you then want to see the end of the film, you have to go back to the beginning and fast-forward, but this is prevented by the ad block. All in all, this is very annoying. I don’t know whether this is due to my very poor internet connection, which only provides 80 MBit instead of the promised 230. There are often short dropouts. However, there are plans to install fibre optics in the near future (the socket has already been installed, but not yet connected).

pe Unfortunately I don’t watch any films on Sat.1 Gold that start at 5:30. 🤷

I’ve never noticed this problem either.

The dropouts and only ⅓ of the speed shouldn’t have any effect. 80 Mbit is easily enough for several streams. But you should actually look at this, even if glass is coming soon. Maybe @Roger G can say something about the problem with the speed, where it could be stuck.

It has nothing to do with the internet connection.
I have an extremely stable connection myself and yet blue TV’s replay mode has been acting up from time to time recently.
This doesn’t always happen for me, but it does happen quite often:
Approximately 3-5 minutes before the end of a programme, the replay simply jumps abruptly to the live programme of the corresponding channel.
Even calling up the replay programme again in the hope of simply being able to watch the programme to the end by clicking on “Continue watching” directly at the “jump point” does not work; instead, you have to use the replay functions to manually navigate back to the replay cancellation point before you can actually watch the programme to the end.

I don’t know whether this behaviour is caused by a specific firmware version of the TV boxes or by the replay servers themselves.
However, as it also occurs with the blue TV app on the Apple TV box, I suspect that it is more likely to be server-side “ailments” and therefore hope that these will occasionally simply disappear into thin air again.

      Hello pe

Just tried it out - Today at 5:15 on SAT 1 Gold the programme “Richter Alexander Hold”.
For me, this programme starts a few seconds before the opening credits with the end of the previous programme. Other programmes before and after and on other channels also start and end on time for me. I can also fast-forward and rewind (without a contract to skip the adverts). It also has no adverts between programmes.
Could it be that you mistook the end of the previous programme “Richterin Barbara Salesch” for the programme “Richter Alexander Hold”?

I can’t say whether your slow internet connection can cause this, but have you tried to find out why you’re not getting the speed specified by the availability checker? In my case it was a branch of the telephone line to another room. After I removed it, the line speed was also correct.

As you seem to be getting fibre optics soon, you just need to be patient and then you can reassess the process with a better line.

Lesen, was auf dem Bildschirm steht.

GuidoL Yes, I gave up because of the speed, if only because fibre optic was repeatedly announced and is now actually due to be connected in the near future. When I complained in the past, the speed was reset and then automatically reset because of the bad lines (with copper cable overhead line to the house). The worst thing is that I have always paid for the fast speed.

So others seem to have the same problem with replay.
