Bluewin Mail mit Outlook 365

Hello everyone

According to my information, you can synchronize Bluewin mail accounts on the desktop either with POP / or IMAP. Unfortunately, Exchange doesn’t work.

Currently, if you move emails locally, they are not moved on the server and are therefore still in the inbox. In my opinion, this shouldn’t be the case.

The folders I created are also not synced back and are missing from webmail.

The settings are correct as provided by Swisscom.

It is displayed correctly between PC and cell phone (both IMAP and Office 365).

My account is already migrated,

As far as I can remember, I didn’t have these problems before.

IMAP would be OK, that should work normally.

I’ve been working with Thunderbird for a long time instead of Outlook 2021 and 365. It’s easier to set up.

    Hello Tom_40

which Outlook do you use? That from the Office365 package, or the “new Outlook”?

For me, the clean IMAP folder management no longer works properly with “New Outlook” and the new webmail. I tried these steps and noticed the following behavior:

    with the “new Outlook”:

    - created a new folder in my bluewin mailbox

    kaetho_1-1730488646468.png

    - named this folder aaaaa

    - logged into webmail and searched for this folder aaa. It doesn’t appear -> New Outlook cannot create this new folder in webmail

Then I tried the same thing in the other direction:

    - created a new folder under “my folders” in webmail with the name bbbbb

    - Restarted New Outlook and searched for the bbbbb folder -> No results: The folder does not appear.

Delete - folder is also not synchronized

Now I have switched back to the old Outlook. It’s really easy to do by resetting the slider in the top right corner of “New Outlook”. Of course, I dutifully filled out the feedback form with the note “Something isn’t working” and entered “new IMAP folders are not synchronized” in the description 😉

In the old Outlook, both scenarios work without any problems. Folders created in webmail automatically appear in Outlook after synchronization or restarting Outlook, and vice versa. Deleting folders also synchronizes automatically in both directions.

I can’t make sense of it at the moment. I can’t find out whether the webmail can’t work with the new Outlook or the new Outlook can’t work with the webmail. I would have to try that now with, for example, another service provider.

What I find exciting is that there are no matching search results on Google for “synchronize new Outlook and IMAP folders”. Either Michrosoft wants the new Outlook to be operated with Exchange, or the topic of properly synchronizing imap folders hasn’t really been addressed yet. Or the new webmail isn’t working properly yet…

    @kaetho

Last week, a user had the “new” Outlook installed instead of Outlook 2021 and she only had problems with it, then I set her Outlook 2021 back up via remote support and no more problems.

The “new” Outlook is a replacement for Windows Mail and somehow not a full replacement.

I use the M365 package but the new Outlook.

I’ve noticed the following in the meantime, the sync still worked for me regardless of whether it was from M365 to webmail or webmail to M365, but it took longer.

I had created a new folder in Outlook and moved a message from the inbox to this folder. The folder did not exist on the webmail and the email was still in the inbox. Later the folder was there and the email was also moved.

During setup I saw a message to integrate the account with IMAP, we have to synchronize it to the cloud.

M365 with the new Outlook remembers which mailboxes are integrated into Outlook and most likely syncs the settings to the cloud.

If you want to disconnect an account, you will see a message asking whether the account should be removed from this or all devices. This corresponds to Microsoft’s philosophy of pushing the cloud.

I’ll leave the config as it is and keep watching.

    Thanks for your help.

OK, I guess I didn’t have the patience to wait. I’ve already noticed that it takes “a little longer”, but for me it sometimes takes several hours for something to be synchronized. That is clearly too long.

The sync works but is very delayed. It would be exciting to know why this is so. Ev. Could someone from Swisscom investigate this issue?

Either way, it would be best if the facility were activated via Exchange like on mobile devices.
