I cannot attach text files to my emails. Why?

which messaging software is used: Webmail, App, other?

if Webmail: old or new version?

with which browser: Firefox, Chrome, Edge, other?

and on which device: PC, Mac, tablet, smartphone, Android, iPhone?
what is the format/extension/size of the text file?
