WLAN-Box 3, Unifi and different VLANs

Hello all,

I’m moving to a new house and I need to install some WLAN-Box3, an Internet Booster 5G in a structured network I’ve already have. My current configuration is based on:

- Unifi switches

- 12 VLANs

- 1 dedicated VLAN for Swisscom segment

- backbone between switches with all VLANs in trunk mode

- Swisscom TV directly connected to InternetBox-3

- No AP in Unifi environment, only the Swisscom Wireless

- Right now Swisscom VLAN: ID 5

I’m wondering if I connect the WLAN-Box3 and the Internet Booster 5g in two Unifi ports in access mode on the Swisscom’s VLAN, this will work or has to configured differently?

Hi nick76

For the booster to work, it + the Internetbox will need:

- untagged: The Swisscom-VLAN (in your case 5 - in my case 2090)

- tagged: the VLANs 699 and 700

In my case, the port configuration looks like this:

Hi @Black Mamba,

thank you very much for your reply… I would like to connect the Wlan-box3 via cable instead of via Wireless… that’s why I’m asking for Vlan configurations on the switch side in order to let both Wlan-box and internet booster working properly.

I saw the Vlan 699 and 700 for the Internet box in trunk mode, but is it correct? There are some other configurations?

Hi all

this is the summary table of the settings to apply to an Ethernet switch, to make it run with all Swisscom retail services.

1. IPTV connected to the switch over Ethernet:

Enable “IGMP snooping” on specific vlan 1

Define port 1 as the default gateway port - The user should connect the switch to the gateway using switch’s port #1

Define all other ports to support “IGMP snooping” - Any of ports #2, #3, etc can potentially be connected to a Swisscom TV Box

Allow IGMP immediate leave

2. Internet Booster (4G and 5G) connected to the switch over Ethernet:

_Tagged vlans 699 and 700 must be forwarded
_

3. WLAN-Box (1 and 2) connected to the switch over Ethernet:

_Tagged vlan 1977 must be forwarded - This is used to allow “Guest WLAN” to be also forwarded by the WLAN-Box
_

That’s it! Let em know if anything does not work as expected.

Hello all,

after moving into the new house, the unifi setup with the internet booster doesn’t work:

I’ve setup the port with native VLAN 5 (the swisscom vlan), and tagged the 699 and 700 vlan.

in the management of the Internetbox I see that the booster has an error.

If I login into the webgui of the nokia I see that the 4g is connected while the 5g not. (if I connect the internet booster directly to the internet box, everything works fine).

there’s something else I’ve to configure?

Hi @nick76

Make sure, that the tagged VLANs are available on both sides (IB and booster) and that all switches in your chain have the VLANs configured correctly.
