Use Swisscom TV with soundbar/TV

I have since May 30th. now Swisscom TV (before Sunrise TV).

I’m very happy with the remote control and the experience so far.

ONLY:

There seems to be a technical problem.

Installation:

-LG smartTV

- Sony Soundbar (HT ZF9)

- Swisscom TV

The TV box is connected to the Sony soundbar via HDMI, the soundbar to the TV (HDMI out with Arc).

The TV box settings are all set correctly. When you switch on the Swisscom TV Box, the TV and soundbar turn on, but after every second start the sound setting is still active, but the volume only goes up/down on the TV box.

Unfortunately, the soundbar doesn’t turn off when you turn it off.

The volume must always be turned on and off under Settings (Swisscom TV), TV box, HDMI ARC so that the setting works again after a restart. However, the next time you use it or switch it on, the same problem occurs again.

Before that, the Sunrise was connected identically and only controlled the volume of the soundbar and the output on the TV with the Sunrise remote control.

But you could explicitly set: sound, soundbar device Sony, TV LG

Here at Swisscom only which TV works.

What do I have to do so that this doesn’t bother me every day?

Standard HDMI cabling works the other way around.

TV-Box to the HDMI-IN of the TV set and then from the HDMI/eARC (ARC= Audio Return Chanel) of the TV set for the sound back to the HDMI-IN of the soundbar.

Additionally, make sure that the HDMI-CEC features (the name is a little different depending on the brand) are actually activated on all three devices.

Thanks for the info. However, the CEC function cannot be activated on the TV because the soundbar keeps turning on the PS5 in the middle of the night.

For us, everything runs centrally via the soundbar because the TV is a bit older.

The soundbar has HDMI tv/out and HDMI 1+2 in

HDMI out is the LG TV and HDMI 1 is the TV box. HDMI 2 is the PS5.

Other devices that are rarely used are connected directly to the TV.

Should I now connect everything via TV?

The strange thing is that this had worked without any problems with Sunrise.

I also have a question about this: I have freshly installed the Sonis Beam TV Box 5. Now I can no longer turn the beam louder and quieter using the remote control, but the volume control appears on the left side of the TV, otherwise it always came via home theater volume… I’ve tried everything. I don’t know what to do next. Is it related to the new Sonos update? IMG_3733.jpeg

@Forever

Pair the TV-Box 5 again via One-Remote, i.e. connect the FB to the TV in the system menu of the TV-Box 5, and then test again.

I have the same thing with my soundbar. I have now installed it or moved it as my colleague suggested, but now after starting the TV box the volume control comes via the TV box instead of the soundbar 😞 every time I turn the box on again the setting is no longer working. I’ve had Swisscom for a few days now and I’m already getting desperate when I have to change it every day. because when I turn it down it’s always at 50 or max. and only when I get to 3 does it actually become quieter…

Every time I have to save the volume control (remote control), tick it out, save it in and then it works again.

as if it resets the setting in the background when rebooting

Of course, the settings of the TV-Box 5 should not be lost during a restart, but since almost no one operates a TV-Box on a switchable power strip or similar due to the very long cold start time, it cannot be ruled out that sometimes not everything works perfectly.

At least as a test, I would switch to standby mode and then check whether all the problems might go away.

@Werner I have it in standby and when I start the TV box, the volume control is back on the box and not on the soundbar. To do this, you have to uncheck the volume box under the settings and under HDMI CEC and then put it back in again. then it works. But as soon as I turn the TV etc off (always standby) and then turn it on again, the volume only works on the box and not on the soundbar.

I’ve now tried everything I can with settings, including my 7-year-old TV and the 3-year-old soundbar.

In this thread, various problems were discussed in parallel, which makes the overview a little difficult.

But assuming you have now wired everything via HDMI via the TV as a central hub:

Take out the HDMI-CEC volume synchronization on the Swisscom TV-Box and limit yourself to the one-remote function on the TV-Box (this means that the volume of the TV is then controlled directly with the SC remote control via infrared on the TV) and from It should, or at least could, be passed on to the soundbar.

    Hello @P_koller

What have you set in Settings => Video and Audio => Audio and Sound? Is there surround in there?

I’ve now tested this on myself. The setting stays saved for me. So it doesn’t seem to be a general problem.

I can’t say whether you got the Monday box. Whether a hard reset changes anything, I have no idea.

Edit, the tip from @Werner in the posting directly before mine might be worth another try.

And otherwise just switch off the soundbar manually using its FB.

Werner @@Werner I checked Home/Settings/TVBox/HDMI-CEC/ and then checked the box below for volume control and now the ugly bar is gone, but I don’t see any display but that doesn’t matter, so it’s easy to use . 😊👍🏻 IMG_3741.jpeg

    as a current short update:

I have now reset my TV box to factory settings and the sound setting remains the same for the last time it was turned on/off. All devices are also switched on and off.

The box probably “fired” or disconnected during commissioning.

    Hope it stays that way.

Thank you all for the tips and support so far.

Yes, I tested it and it stays that way. So I’m happy I don’t necessarily need to see the ad on the TV anymore. Maybe things will change again with the Sonos update…

Note: This morning I had to remove the hook and reinsert it and then the sound via Sonos worked again. HDMI CEC)

I’m hoping for the update from Sonos, maybe it will work again otherwise I’ll switch back to the old box.

    6 months later

    Hello Werner

Sorry, I have to jump in here, today I bought my TV OLED77C4 from LG and the soundbar from LG DSG10TY

So I have to plug the Swisscombox directly into HDMI 1 and then connect the TV eARC to the soundbar eARC connection.

    Correctly?

Until now I had HDMI CABLE to the soundbar HDMI IN and then Sound eARC to TV eARC.

Which settings do I still have to adjust?

    Thank you very much
