Multiroom vs. Multiroom Max

  • The automatic change from Multiroom (5.00) to Multiroom Max (9.90) announced in a letter actually means a price increase of 100% if you only need one additional stream! This is clearly an unfair contract change on the part of Swisscom. In any case, I am very disappointed that Swisscom is now pulling off such customer-unfriendly antics. It must at least be possible for loyal customers to stay at 5.00 a month for decades.

    How do you see that? Are automatic changes without letting customers decide legally tenable?

    • Woppeppel93 and Spartiaten like that.

      An obligation to continue the previous option for CHF 5 per box certainly cannot be derived from the currently existing customer contracts, but what is certainly given to the customer is a right of termination - unfortunately that is almost certainly not your problem at all 🙂

      There are probably only 3 concrete options for action:

      - the second TV-Box will be dispensed with in the future

      - you accept and pay (although perhaps grudgingly)

      - you forego blue TV and switch to another IPTV provider for the TV offer, which already includes up to 5 TV boxes for its already very affordable price, parallel operation

    @thom3114

    It would be something for the price monitor since the federal government also owns shares!

    With purely private companies it is more difficult.

    Legally this should be tenable. Swisscom certainly has in its terms and conditions that products can be removed from the range or their prices can be adjusted.

    Whether the approach is clever is another question.

    I briefly looked at the terms and conditions. There it says:

    Changes in prices and services

    Swisscom reserves the right to adjust the prices, its services, the special conditions and the offer conditions at any time. Swisscom will inform the customer of any changes in an appropriate manner (e.g. on the invoice or by email). Does Swisscom increase prices in such a way that they lead to a higher overall burden on the customer or does Swisscom significantly change a service purchased by the customer to the detriment of the customer?
    Customers, inform Swisscom well in advance and the customer can cancel the affected service (e.g. in the case of options only this service, but not the underlying service) until the change comes into force at this point in time without financial consequences. If he fails to do this, he accepts the changes. If Swisscom lowers the prices, it can at the same time adjust any discounts granted before the price reduction.

    In my opinion, you have exactly the 3 options described by @Werner.

    Thanks for the answers; I actually didn’t expect much else.

    I’ll probably consider “Option 1” from Werner’s Tips, as I only use the second box very sporadically.

    For the Swisscom strategists: a customer-friendly solution would be:

    - Multiroom Max basic price 5.-

    - Each additional stream additionally 3.-

    But apparently Swisscom no longer needs satisfied customers.

    @thom3114

    By the way, the really customer-friendly solution would be to completely waive a multiroom fee with a TV box purchase model like the one included in the current blue product, as other IPTV providers sometimes do, because there is a multiroom fee The costs are actually only due to the rental of additional devices, which at Swisscom only takes place in the Wingo-Produkt and not in the blue product.

    But what the heck: Swisscom is currently collecting all the money that customers somewhere are still willing to spend 🙂
