Swisscom G.Fast with Proscend 190-T

Hello,

I have a 190-T SFP, plugged into a DEC750 fw/router. Before you ask, I have moved from an area with optical fiber to an area without, so i thought the G.Fast pluggable would be an easy way to keep my setup as it was before.

Apparently i was wrong, since it doesnt seem to work. (although i've seen people saying that it should). The lights (green and amber) turn on solid, but i cannot seem to get an IP address. I have already set the dhcp option 60 as required, but I dont seem to get any packets from upstream. I don't know if it's the communication between the device and the sfp or between the sfp and Swisscom. I've also disabled the autoneg on the sfp as mentioned elsewhere. The sfp is detected, but as a 180-T (not 190-t) - i'm hoping it's just a driver display issue.

So the question is, did anyone manage to make this 190-T work on a swisscom line, and if so, could they post some hints on how to configure the device?

Thanks, i had seen that thread before, but it doesn't give much detail about the config, other that an external MC was required (and that it's with another ISP).

I will try to get an external MC (i was aiming to avoid that) and see if it helps, will post the result here.

Did you first try to attach the Swisscom router?

yes, it works as expected, 400/100 Mbps or so.

You need a DHCP ip address to do that 🙂

OK, so i got an external media converter (TP-Link MC220L), plugged the 190-T in it, and connected the RJ45 end to my router. For reasons i cannot explain, this setup works fine - the router got an ip address directly and I was able to connect after doing the registration. The speeds are comparable to the original IB3 (slightly lower) so it seems at least to connect at G.Fast speeds. I don't know why it doesn't work directly in the DEC750, for now i'm happy to get a working setup.
