Is the Internetbox 3 accessible from the outside via LTE stick

Hello everyone,

I have the problem that the internet connection in our holiday home hangs up once every few months and the red LED on Internet box 3 then lights up.

If I then switch the IB off and on again everything works again. Since it’s not that exciting to go to the holiday home every time to do this, my idea would be to connect an LTE USB stick (according to the instructions, the IB has a slot for this) so that the IB still has internet and you could restart it.

My question now is, is the IB (router interface) accessible from the outside via VPN on the IB or the NAS via LTE, for example, or is communication only possible from the inside to the outside?

I hope you understand my question.

Are you no longer able to access your Internet box in Kundencenter to “restart” it?

I have never tested whether access via Kundencenter is also possible when the Internet box runs over the mobile network, theoretically possible.

Do you have good mobile reception there?

However, it would be important to clarify why these interruptions occur.

I know a few users who switch the Internet box on and off using a timer, but it’s somehow an emergency solution.

You could also automatically briefly disconnect the IB3 from the power using a timer once a month…..should not have a negative impact on grooming if only once a month….

But no matter what, it’s all just fighting symptoms.

You have to find the reason why the IB hangs every few months, that shouldn’t be the case.

What are the line/diagnostic values there in the holiday home?

    To answer your original question:

At the time of mobile failover, i.e. when an Internet box is running on the mobile network via an LTE stick, access via DynDNS does not work and as a consequence you cannot establish a VPN connection to it from outside.

I’ll be back at the holiday home next week and I’ll take a closer look at it again.
I think the problem with the connection is due to the supply line, which still runs over an overhead line and external influences certainly also play a role.

But the timer would certainly be a temporary solution

This certainly works, because a power loss is not interpreted as a disruption to the DSL line. I see customers in the logs doing this every morning at 6am… for whatever reason.

It looks like the line at the holiday home isn’t in your name, so I can’t look into it.
