It looks like it only works with the adapter from Swisscom. A test with the adapter in the picture below doesn’t work, although it doesn’t have a problem on all Windows and Apple systems.

For everyone who asked whether it also works with third-party subscriptions:

“To use TV-Box, you need a Swisscom blue TV subscription.”

This comment is also on the Apple TV box and probably refers to watching the services of blue TV, but not to the physical Anschluss of the box. The previous TV boxes could only be connected to a house connection with a Swisscom Internet subscription, but the Apple TV box could be connected to any global Internet access via LAN, WLAN, mobile hotspot, etc.

So the question would be whether the new TV-Box 5 can also be used on any Internet access as a normal Android/Google TV-Box (e.g. to watch any streaming provider) and if you have a Swisscom blue TV subscription (from free to L), for example Watch blue TV with the blue TV app from the Play Store.

There is no blue TV app for the TV-Box 5

TV runs on the box as OS 6 and the Play Store is integrated.

So live TV is certainly not possible. Without Swisscom Anschluss with blue TV subscription.

I think you asked a very good question about the dependence of the TV-Box 5 on a Swisscom Internet connection.

I haven’t tried it myself, but the way the Swisscom firmware of the TV-Box 5 is built, with blue TV as the main menu of the TV-Box, I assume that the TV-Box 5 is exactly the same as the previous Swisscom TV boxes, only on a blue landline. Internet connection can be operated.

Let’s ask @RomanE for a brief clarification on this question.

The new TV-Box 5 has “access to Google Play with thousands of apps”. One of these thousands of apps is the Swisscom blue TV app (see screenshot).

This can be downloaded, for example, to Android Smart TVs or TV boxes such as Nokia etc. and with a completed blue TV subscription you can watch blue TV.

My question would be: Can the new TV-Box 5 (independently of the integrated and certainly more convenient blue TV software OS 6.0) be operated with the above blue TV app from the Play Store? Or in other words: can the new TV-Box 5 be used like any Android TV box?

**By the way, there are some other apps that are not in the store. For example SRF Play, SRF Sport

So if you don’t have a blue TV subscription with blue Internet, you won’t be able to watch blue TV via TV-Box 5.

“This article (the Blue TV app from the Google Playstore) is not compatible with your device” means:

Swisscom has blocked the download of the Blue TV app from the Playstore on the TV Box 5 (because Swisscom’s own Blue TV app is already permanently installed, which only runs on a Swisscom Internet Anschluss.

So: TV Box 5 only runs for Blue TV on a Swisscom Internet Anschluss, but with the option of using other apps (including TV apps from the Playstore.

@Stajaussie20 exactly, Pluto TV, Relaxx TV, Hellas TV (Greek channels), the RTP app from Portugal, the Regio TV app from the Netherlands, BEM TV (Russian channels) they work well.

Thanks for the query. With the picture I simply wanted to show that the Swisscom blue TV app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the Google Play Store is accessible with the new TV-Box 5.

I picked up the new box today at Avec in the village and connected it up.

Basically I think the new little box is ok. And yes the box is really damn small😁

At the moment everything is still a bit cumbersome and slow.

The apps from the Play Store in particular are slow and you have to be patient.

But I think there will definitely be more updates.

Dolby Vision also works.

Otherwise I think it’s a cool device.
